Chief Security Officer


Education experience

Ø Must have STCW 95 Certification

Ø Holds appropriate licenses and certificates as required by regulations.

Ø Applications: Windows XP, including Word, Excel

Responsibilities

Ø The Chief Security Officer is directly responsible to the Staff Captain, and is responsible for the security of the vessel, her crew and passengers in accordance with US and IMO ISPS requirements.

Ø Crew training as per SSP requirements.


Ø Perform gangway security duties.

Ø Perform various security inspections as per SMS.

Ø Perform night security patrol.

Ø Perform security guard duties.

Ø Participate in and comply with the vessel’s safety and security standards in compliance with ISM / SMS / ISPS procedures.

Ø Perform luggage and cabin searches.

Ø Ensure compliance with US MTSA, USCG, and IMO ISPS regulations.

Ø Attend all department meetings.

Ø Responsible for their area’s safety, cleanliness, and operation.

Ø Regular security inspections of the ship to ensure that appropriate security measures are maintained.

Ø Implement, maintain and supervise the Ship Security Plan, including any modifications or amendments to the plan.

Ø Coordinate the security aspects of the handling of cargo and ship stores with other shipboard personnel and with the relevant port facility security officials.
