Regional National Security Assistant - UNDP Afghanistan

Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the UNDP RFSS, the Local Security Assistant is responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operations of safety and security and the UNDP emergency communications within the assigned region.
In addition and under the direction of the RFSS, s/he will liaise with the ANP/MOI/MOD to ensure that all relevant security information is clearly received and understood by all Afghan key stake holders.
Specific duties are:
Support the RFSS in the management and coordination of regional security operations,
ensuring that security procedures are implemented and adhered to as per UNDP
Security Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
In conjunction with the RFSS, provide additional operational support and guidance to the regional security teams as required.
Under direction from the RFSS, liaise with the ANP/MOI/ISAF/MOD to ensure that all relevant security information is clearly received and understood by all Afghan key stake holders.
Assist the RFSS in conducting security assessments and threat analysis as required, and where necessary provide feedback to the RFSS on proposed mitigation strategies for country specific threats.
Assist the RFSS at meetings with key stakeholders in providing interaction and translation skills in English, Pashtu and Dari.
Develop a close working relationship with his/her national counterpart at the Department
of Safety and Security (DSS), by ensuring a comprehensive working knowledge of the
UN Security system.
Work with DSS to provide timely advice and clearances for Air/Road Missions.
Assist the RFSS in all MOSS/MORSS assessments, and provide logical solutions to establishing a workable security framework.
Perform other duties as assigned by the RFSS relating to staff safety and security.
