ARMED: S2 Trainer/Mentor (SMW 3rd SOAT)

The S2 Trainer/Mentor shall implement and operate programs, practices, and procedures for developing optimal utilization of personnel to train Afghan Special Operations Forces in intelligence functions necessary to receive, process, produce and provide intelligence support to Afghan National Army (ANA) units. The trainer will perform the same tasks as the SMW S2 Mentor but at the squadron level ensuring integration with SMW Headquarters. The trainer will design and administer programs to train all levels of personnel with intelligence functions and for integration with the ANA and the SMW HQs. The trainer will develop tests and visual aids. Coordinate class arrangements, conduct training classes, and develop criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities. Develop programs and practices to identify developmental needs including preparing personnel for more responsible positions and increasing effectiveness in present assignments. If required, may use technical experts to assist in training. Monitor training and actively assists or provide direction as needed; Creating, maintaining and delivering to the TL and DPM all required reports; Provide to the TL and DPM all required data/information for monthly performance review and training reports.

Required Hours:
Work may include nights, holidays, and weekends on short notice. Standard will be 6 days/week, 10 hours/day while OCONUS and 40 hours/week while CONUS

Responsibilities:
-Responsible for support to training as well as conducting training using ANA practices as appropriate to support the section
-Will report to the TL, as well as the DPM
-Will be responsible for regularly interacting with US military personnel
-Responsible for assessing how well the students have learned the coursework
-Shall train Afghan Soldiers on the following tasks:-Provide training support to the squadron Afghan Soldiers as necessary to cover all intelligence disciplines applicable for Afghanistan sustainable and unilateral intelligence capabilities and use to include but not limited to HUMINT, GEOINT, OSINT, and All-Source. The trainer will also provide training in the intelligence cycles necessary to conduct MDMP and Aviation Specific IPB
-Garrison Intelligence, to include OPSEC, mission debriefs, local liaison with MOD, NDS, and MOI; source operations, and external garrison Indications and Warnings (I-W), report writing
-Operational Intelligence: to include TOC operations, Intelligence Preparation of the Operational Environment (IPOE), analysis, all-source intelligence, situation estimates, order-of-battle studies, and other intelligence reports and studies in support to an expeditionary force commander and to disseminate to sub-unit commanders in order to provide overall situational awareness
-Tactical Intelligence: to include, TOC operations, develop a mission planning folder, Aviation specific IPOE-focused on SAFIRE and HLZ analysis for both fixed and rotary wing, situation development, situation templates, target development and acquisition, collection management, I-W, mission debriefs, liaison with ANA, NDS, and MOI
-Counterintelligence: to include force protection, physical security, internal source operations, return soldier debriefs, I-W
-Common Supporting Training Tasks: to include Role of the Intelligence Officer in the Military Decision Making Process (MDMP), the intelligence cycle, map reading, Microsoft Office Suite, intelligence briefings and terrain models
-Train IAW respective program of instruction for staff functions associated with battalion and brigade level intelligence tactics, techniques and procedures
-Multi-echelon staff integration and intelligence support to Brigade and Battalion level exercises and forward command post establishment
-Instruct at the following levels: Company and Battalion S2
-Integration of intelligence reports from multiple sources and production of intelligence collection plans using organic Afghan National Army collection methods and procedures

Required Qualifications:
-Former E7/CW2/O3 with over ten years’ experience in the intelligence field
-Previous military occupational skill of 18F, 35 or service equivalent
-Competent with operating Personal Computer Skills & Microsoft Office
-Excellent Leadership, Organizational & Project Mgmt Skills
-Ability to plan and organize work, analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions
-Must possess a US Passport with at least 6 months of remaining eligibility
-Must be able to obtain an Afghanistan Visa

Physical & Mental Requirements:

-This is an ARMED position. Must obtain and maintain eligibility to possess & operate a firearm in Afghanistan (AFG). As a business necessity, must successfully complete/maintain arming requirements including but not limited to: Psychological evaluation (initial evaluation & annual reevaluations); Completion of Civilian Arming Authorization Mgmt System (CAAMS) requirements/documentation & Arming Authorization Letter from US Forces AFG; Afghan weapons permit from the Afghan Ministry of the Interior
-Wear required personal protective gear: body armor, helmet, etc. Independently lift/carry duffle bags with a max weight of 70 lbs/piece & move across uneven terrain
-Work & live in AFG with potential assignment to any location in AFG based upon needs of the U.S. Gov’t
-Meet medical requirements for position as determined by a pre-employment medical screening & published CRC and USCENTCOM medical deployment standards
-Walk or stand on level and/or inclined surfaces up to 8 hours/day & sit for up to 3 hours/day; climb/descend stairs; grasp or handle objects; use finger dexterity; bend elbows/knees; reach above/below shoulders; read/interpret typewritten print; communicate by voice & detect sound by ear
-Work, live & respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances in a potentially hostile environment at remote locations, under austere conditions - with extreme aircraft noise, hostile fire, other acts of aggression and/or extreme weather conditions
-Maintain emotional stability & behavioral composure, performing effectively during stressful situations
-Comply with orders, laws, rules & regs

Clearance Requirement:
Must have an active/current DoD SECRET security clearance.

Required Education:
Bachelor's degree from accredited school & 4 years of related experience, OR 2 years related experience with Master's degree. 8 years of additional equivalent work experience (12 total years) may be accepted in lieu of BA/BS education requirement100620
