The starting salary package for this position is £47,860 GBP / approx. $64,000 USD including all allowances.
About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Security and Access Manager to support Syria programme in the North East and the development of new opportunities in the North West and Damascus. This role will initially be based from office in North East Syria, with frequent travel to Damascus and other areas of Syria.
In this role you will identify and implement security measures to safeguard staff, locations, and assets across Syria. You will develop and enforce security protocols and contingency plans in line with local dynamics, standards, and humanitarian principles. For this, you will also coordinate with local authorities, INGOs, and UN agencies to monitor threats and ensure a safe operating environment. You will have management responsibilities, and be responsible for training and supervising security personnel to ensure staff awareness and compliance with safety procedures. This is a complex and dynamic role where you can use your expertise to support and advance organization’s mission to keep communities safe.
About you:
You will be an experienced security management professional with experience living and working in high-risk environments, ideally within Syria itself. You should have demonstrable experience of critical incident management and a proven ability to communicate, negotiate, and influence in complex and stressful circumstances. You will have a strong understanding of the context in Syria and the Middle East, NGO security management, and humanitarian principles. You will have excellent interpersonal skills supported by experience working effectively with multidisciplinary and multicultural teams. You will have a high level of maturity, flexibility, and pragmatism, and be committed to organization’s mission, values, and approach.

Organization has been responding to the Syria crisis since 2013, working to support the development of conflict by finding and destroying the explosive remnants of war so that communities can raise their families and pursue their livelihoods in a safe and secure environment, free from fear of death or injury. In addition to our current programme in the North East, you will also support the safe expansion of initiatives across all of Syria, based on where and how opportunities arise in the future.

Insurance: Programme based staff are automatically covered by organization's comprehensive insurance package including: Personal accident and medical expenses insurance; Death by natural causes insurance and access to 24-hour medical assistance.
