About This Role:
To manage the day-to-day Akyem Mine Operational Site security services and activities, which are executed and resourced through an outsourced guarding contract, providing professional level assistance with development, delivery and management of security.

In This Role You Will:
Administrative Management 
Prepare security procedures, instructions and job descriptions to ensure clarity and consistency and ensure that all reviews are done timeously.
Monitor the operating and administrative activities of the contracted security force as well as security equipment and implements assigned to personnel.

Contract Performance Management
Supervise the day-to-day operations of assigned Operations in managing access and egress of company property, patrols, surveillance, monitoring security systems and responding to alarms.
Contribute to the identification and development of Akyem security contract tender specifications and performance requirements and measures.
Manage the Operations aspect of the outsourced security contract including execution of security tasks to the appropriate standard at fixed installations, security operations center, and investigative and analytical functions.
Track contractor performance as per SLA and manage any non-conformance and performance related to Plant security.
Conduct Security presentations for company personnel, contractors and contracted Security Force employees.
Provide advice and guidance on security matters to company personnel, contractors and sponsored dependents.
Communicates security problems or unusual events to Site Security Manager.

Contract Resource Management 
Participate in the induction of new guards Identify security resource requirements.
Prepare rosters and schedules to ensure continuous and effective security force supervision and coordination.
Ensure that all shifts have security supervisors on duty or on call.
Ensure that business partner supervisors have a duty roster and work accordingly.
Develop and implement training for subordinate staff.
Ensure that continuous development and training is done for the SCC operators and Supervisors in conjunction with the IESS Senior Supervisor.
Conduct a security presentation for company personnel, contractors and contacted security force employees.
Resolve resource management issues.
Conduct audits as per IMS and security work plan.
Conduct standby duties as required.

Emergency Management 
Acts as coordination point in emergency situations by staying apprised of Rapid Response System activities, monitoring emergency activities and responding as outlined in company procedure.
Keep supervisors apprised of emergency situations with regular updates.

Planning and Reporting 
Prepare, perform analyses, and prepare a consolidated monthly report for review by the Security Manager for further distribution and filing.
Assist the security manager in developing operating 20% 5% 5% 3 of 5 budgets for the security department.
Manages resource security aspect of the budget.
Prepare and review reports prepared by security personnel and take follow-up action as necessary.
Review routine reports from subordinates and forward to the Site Security Manager for further distribution and filing.
Liaison With other departments and government security forces.
Setup an informant network and provide the security manager with intelligence gathered.

Safety and Compliance
Drive safety culture in all aspects of security operations.
Ensure that all work carried out adheres to Health and Safety standard operating procedures.
Deliver own prescribed outcomes and/or provide services by following Newmont’s Health and Safety systems and protocols.


Security and Compliance
Liaise with departments and contractors on badging issues and provide reports to the site security manager.
Supervise storing and accounting for NGRL equipment issued to security personnel. • Forward a consolidated monthly report to the security Manager for further distribution and filing. This report shall include the status of vehicles, radios and chargers, telephones, other equipment when applicable.
Ensure that all equipment and facility defects, damage, excessive vegetation overgrowth or any other issues that might influence effective security operations are identified and rectified.
Liaison, with police, justice department, company personnel, on site contractors and contracted security agency employees.


Security Projects 
Manage all Operational security related projects with Security Contractors.
Understand and assess Plant Security requirements for mining projects and developments.
Co-ordinate resource and security requirements for mining Plant projects and developments.
Preparation of weekly project progress reports and project administration, writing and tracking projects.
Hold weekly project meetings.
Support commissioning of new electronic security equipment and systems.
Review security related documents to provide advice on, and interpretation of matters contained therein.
Ensure that safety, security and environmental inspection are completed as required.

Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist:

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):A Degree or Professional Diploma in Security.
CDP preferable.

Additional Knowledge:
Knowledge of gold plant security.
Knowledge and experience with electronic security systems is recommended.
Knowledge of English language, written and spoken, is required.
Knowledge of informatics systems is required.
Working knowledge of Ghana Criminal and Mine related Laws.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years’ of relevant security experience, knowledge and experience within the security industry is required.
Experience in public security services is preferable.
Prior experience working with an expatriate work force.
Strong Supervisory and Management experience.
Must have a strong administrative background and functioning knowledge of procurement, budgeting and reporting.


Technical Skills:
Good interpersonal and organizational skills with good oral and written communication skills.
Strong PC Skills, including MS Office, Word Excel, Power Point and outlook applications.
Ability to deliver written reports with applicable statistics.

Working Conditions
The position is located at the Akyem site.
Work Environment: The noise level in the office work environment is minimal and would be required to work in office and field environments.
The incumbent may be required to travel and assist other domestic and international sites.
