MdM strategy in Palestine focuses on 2 pillars: Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPREP) and Sexual & Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), with two cross-cutting topics: Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) and gender mainstreaming. In MHPSS, MdM intervention in the Palestine is focused on provision of MHPSS emergency response activities following critical incidents related to occupation, local partners capacity building and MHPSS integration at Ministry of Health (MoH) Primary Health Care Centres (PHCCs).

MdM Palestine has one office in Gaza, a base in the West Bank (Nablus), an office in Jerusalem, and a coordination office in Bir Zeit - Ramallah.

Job description

Under the supervision of the general coordinator and in collaboration with the health advisor based at HQ, you are in charge of designing, planning, implementing, adapting and monitoring health activities. You directly manage the medical team.

Your main responsibilities are the following:Participate in the definition of the country strategy led by the general coordinator and drive the medical and technical aspects in the development of this strategy
Design, plan, implement, adapt and monitor the programme’s health activities
Ensure the quality and relevance of health activities, supervise the collection and analysis of medical data
Recruit, manage, train, and motivate the medical team
Ensure the management of pharmaceutical products
Carry out health needs assessments and evaluations of medical partners
Cooperate with the administration team regarding budgeting and supervise the medical purchase process
Represent MdM with authorities, partners and other NGOs on health issues
Participate in the writing of proposals and reports
ProfileProfessional health training OR paramedic diploma (Doctor, Nurse, midwife etc)
Master’s in public health or mental health is an asset
Project Management training
At least 4 years of relevant professional experience in similar positions in the humanitarian sector (INGO, emergency contexts, management of medical projects)
Previous experiences, knowledge and skills in integrated programming with mental health, and psychosocial support (MHPSS), emergency unit, SRHR, GBV an asset
Expertise in medical project cycle management and its relation to data analysis
Previous professional experience in Middle East is an asset
Ability to work under pressure in complex crisis and to classify and change priorities
Diplomacy, communication, listening skills

Languages: fluency in English is mandatory (written and spoken), proficiency in Arabic and/or French is an asset
Conditions of employmentStarting date: as soon as possible
3-month renewable contract
Gross monthly salary: €3,570
Position based in Bir Zeit with regular field visits to sites of intervention or assessment
Premium equal to one month salary paid in two instalments – minimum of 6 months seniority required
Expatriation bonus (10% gross salary per month)
Transportation cost, vaccines and visas covered
Guesthouse housing
22.5 recovery days per year
5 weeks of paid leaves per year
Health insurance (50% covered by MdM and 50% by the employee)
