Job Summary
Our client is a leading player in the maritime sector. The Chief Security Officer will be responsible for the development, implementation and management of the corporate security processes and the various security and safety functions pertaining to all persons and properties of the organization
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the security of the personnel and physical assets, including assets protection, workplace violence prevention, access control systems
Manage the development and implementation of the company’s security policies, standards guidelines and procedures to ensure ongoing maintenance of security.
Work with other executives to prioritize security initiatives and spending based on appropriate risk management.
Liaise with appropriate security agencies and regulatory authorities
Oversee a network of security officers and vendors who safeguard the company’s assets, intellectual property and computer systems, as well as the physical safety of employees and visitors
Oversee incident response planning as well as the investigation of safety and security breaches and undertake disciplinary measures and deal with criminal and legal matters associated with such breaches.
Qualifications / Experience
A first degree or equivalent qualification required
Membership of a recognized security association is mandatory
Adequate knowledge of security issues in large organization or government agency
Good knowledge of crime prevention, investigation, detection and prosecution
Experience with the military or other paramilitary services
Must be intelligent, physically fit, articulate and persuasive leader who can serve as an effective member of the management team and who is able to communicate security related concepts.
Training as Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) will be an added advantage
Requirements
Must have International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS Code) training and certification
HND/ OND in Criminology, Intelligence & Security Studies or any other related course.
Minimum of 10years cognate experience, with at least 3 years in shipping and ports management
Military and or naval background is added advantage
Ability to assimilate visual and audible information accurately
Knowledge of the phonetic alphabet
Ability to write short reports recommencing action to be taken following a review of the Incident.
Candidate should be fit, vigilant, honest and well trained.
