Job Purpose

Reporting directly to the Accountable Manager to whom authority has been granted to ensure that all activities undertaken by Wilderness Air Zimbabwe are carried out in accordance with the Wilderness Air Zimbabwe Flight Operations Manual in terms of the applicable requirements prescribed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe and the Wilderness Air Service licenses.

The Safety & Security Manager is responsible for the administration of the Authority approved company Safety Management System (SMS) program, and the company Security Management System (SEMS) program, and co-ordinates these safety and security measures in line with Authority approved internal safety and security policies, standards, practices and programs including the Emergency Response Plan.

Key Performance Areas:
Establish and manage safety and security standards, policies and procedures and prepare information for review by safety committee.
Develop and maintain a “safety culture” to maintain direct reporting links between all staff and departments in respect of safety.
Establish and maintain a reporting system to collect and analyse safety and security related data as well as record; verify information within and analyse safety and security reports.
Manage hazard identification, risk management, analysis processes and report directly to accountable executive on serious safety or security concerns.
Participate in periodic reviews to determine the effectiveness of the programs and evaluate the results of safety and security initiatives in terms of its appropriateness and effectiveness.
Carry out regular internal and external safety and security audits, surveys, assessments, drills and reports.
Manage the sharing of safety and security information, monitors and report on risk control measures taken.
Conduct trend analysis exercises on safety and security.
Provides feedback and reports to CAAB.
Coordinate ERP exercises and conduct safety awareness training.
Fully embrace and assess safety and/or security training programs to enhance aviation safety and security knowledge at all times.
Routine liaison with CAAZ and relevant law enforcement agencies.

Minimum Qualification and Experience
Aviation Safety and Security Management Systems Degree or equivalent qualification.
5 years working experience in the aviation industry, including a technical background in aviation that assists in the understanding of the systems that support operations or the product/service provided.
Exceptional knowledge of the Civil Aviation Regulations of Zimbabwe.
Criminal Free History Record Check.
Must hold or have held at least a Commercial Pilot’s License.
Experience in tourist charter type operations.
Computer Literacy with focus on MS Office, Excel emphasis and attention to detail.
Experience in multi-national and multi-cultural diversity.
Broad operational knowledge and experience in the functions of a typical Aviation Organisation.

Added Advantage Requirements:
Aviation Quality Management Systems.
Emergency Response Training.
OHSE training.
3 years working experience in any combination of the recognized aviation Post Holder positions or Assistant thereof.
Technical knowledge of the Cessna 208 aircraft.
