Oxfam is a global movement of people working together to end the injustice of poverty.
In March 2022, Oxfam launched its response to the influx of refugees and other people forced to flee from Ukraine in Romania, Moldova and Poland. A Programme Management Unit (PMU) was established to provide leadership, oversee, support and provide technical assistance to the response in the affected countries. The PMU is led by the Organizational Lead and includes dedicated advocacy and influencing capacity; business support functions, and a programme quality team with technical support on gender in emergencies, protection, cash and voucher programming, monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL), and safeguarding. Oxfam is supporting a partner-led humanitarian response for the assistance and protection of refugees and other vulnerable people from Ukraine and the communities, organisations and authorities that are hosting and supporting them in neighbouring countries.

The Role
TEAM PURPOSE:
To effectively lead, manage and drive the Oxfam response in Kyiv while working with other stakeholders across Oxfam
JOB PURPOSE:
The Safety and Security Coordinator for Kyiv will work to strengthen Oxfam’s response in Kyiv by providing security management support including building security management capacity for the future. S/he will be based in Kyiv. S/he will be closely working the Country Safety and Security Coordinator as well as the programme technical teams.

What we are looking for
EssentialGraduate Degree from a recognised University/college in International Development or any other related area that can bring added value to the job.
Considerable practical experience of security assessment, planning, designing and implementation of procedures in the context of UN or NGO humanitarian operations.
Proven influencing and negotiating skills with internal and external audiences including in complex and stressful circumstances.
Proven experience of providing trainings on safety and security topics.
Sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to work in a wide variety of cultural contexts.
Initiative and motivation to work independently and develop solutions to problems.
Highly flexible in style with the ability to produce creative and pragmatic solutions to complex problems.
Analytical and strategic planning skills.
Excellent organisational, problem-solving and negotiation skills. The ability to remain calm whilst dealing with conflicting priorities/work under pressure is essential.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal English) and the ability to write clear, concise reports and influence verbally to persuade with diplomacy and tact.
