Description

The main objective of the Logistics & Safety Coordinator (L&SC) is to support and advise the Country Director to define/adjust a comprehensive methodology and strategic tools for the logistics and safety frameworks applied to the mission, and bases. It ensures that there is a solid contributory approach used by the mission for the development/adjustment of methodologies and tools.

The L&SC will maintain a direct functional relationship to the head of bases and have as a cross-cutting important link with the logistics team in the mission.

The L&SC will emphasise the importance of fostering a culture of efficient logistics service provision and safety throughout the organisation.
Key activities in your role will include

Objective 1: Analyse country context and produce recommendations for the Mission to the Country Director.Based on the analyses work closely with the CD, HoB’s, and other senior leaders to update the key security documents of the Mission and of the Bases/-sub-bases. oAttend to security meetings and share key meetings outcomes as they relate to the safety and security of the staff, organizational assets, and operations.
Maximizes the AAH network with regular contacts and exchanges with pertinent stakeholders. oMap, plan, and coordinate systemic ongoing engagement with all key stakeholders by respective Action Against Hunger staff, as it related to constraints and challenges of AAH operations

Objective 2: Logistics support. oAdvise the CD and HoBs on all logistics and safety/security matters.Supervises the up to datedness of the logistics emergency stocks and supplies in accordance with the context analysis and the needs.
Supports in the implementation of hibernation and evacuation plans to ensure they are in place and operational.
Supports the movement follow-up procedures.
Make sure the logistics set up of the country office functions smoothly and provides necessary support for program operations.

Objective 3: Creates a safety culture within the mission.Works closely with the HR Manager and the CD to train, sensitize staff on safety protocols.
Prepares and facilitates courses linked to her/his position resulting from an analysis of the needs related to the context.
In coordination with HR make sure staff health and safety set up is there and used effectively.

Objective 4: ReportingTimely reporting of incidents using AAH reporting system and based on the lessons learned from the incidents produce recommendations on what needs to be improved in the future.
Reports monthly to the CD with predefined indicators and makes clear and documented recommendations.
Ensure that constraints and challenges of AAH operations analysis, plans, issues and incidents are conducted and documented.
Do you meet the profile required criteria?

Key Competences:

A Logistics Coordinator should have expertise in managing the movement of goods, strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to organize tasks efficiently. To communicate effectively, lead a team, negotiate favorable terms, and analyze data for decision-making. Adaptability, technical proficiency, and financial awareness are vital, along with project management and risk mitigation capabilities. Collaborative teamwork, cultural sensitivity, and knowledge of regulations are essential to succeed in coordinating logistics operations, ensuring timely delivery, and optimizing processes.

Qualifications/training:

Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field

Technical specific knowledge:

The Logistics Coordinator should have technical expertise in humanitarian logistics. He should be familiar with donor-specific regulations and compliance requirements in the humanitarian sector. Proficiency in systems like Supply Chain Management System (SCMS). Understanding the Sphere Project standards for humanitarian response and safety and security protocols for aid workers are also crucial technical competencies in this role.

Previous experience (years):
5 years of relevant experience in logistics and supply chain management
Strong knowledge of logistics procedures, systems, and best practices.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in relevant software and tools (e.g., Excel, logistics management software).
Fluency in [languages required for the job].
Our remuneration package:

We offer immediate incorporation to a dynamic international network with the following competitive remuneration package:

Base: Port Sudan temporarily until the Khartoum office returns
Formal work contract: 12 months contract
Salary: according to Action Against Hunger salary scale and according to candidate’s previous experience
Expatriate insurance (health, live, repatriation, travel, etc.)
Yearly holiday return flight ticket
Accommodation and housing expenses (in a shared guest house)
Travel costs to and from the mission.
25 working days of paid leave per year
Break on 2-month cycle: additional rest period of 5 working days, including a lump sum for travel cost to a reference area and economic contribution.
Extra benefit per month and per child (Under 18 years old – according to standard list of Action Against Hunger – Spain).
