The Risk Management, Safety, and Security Advisor charge for the implementation of the CARE International-required safety and security management systems that are required in CARE Canada and CARE Cuba.

Under the leadership of a Director, People, and Culture you will be responsible for overseeing safety and security aspects within the organization. Additionally, you will have a dotted line reporting relationship to the VP, Strategy, People, and Systems for the purpose of managing Risk Management aspects.

You will be leading the ongoing enhancement and management of systems and processes that enable CARE Canada to manage the safety & security of personnel, assets, and program implementation effectively within its risk appetite. You will provide the tools and information to Senior Leadership to ensure that safety and security risks both to staff, and the organization, are identified, assessed, documented, and mitigated and that the CARE Canada Board of Directors and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) are equipped to fulfill their governance responsibilities in this area. In addition, they will participate in the CARE International Safety & Security network.

In your role, you will actively engage with CARE International and peers in relevant organizations in coordinated efforts to implement best practices, plans, and processes, harmonization of policies when possible, and enhance staff safety and security knowledge, skills, and culture through the provision, as well as coordination, of staff training.

WHAT YOU OFFER / ABOUT YOU
You have solid project management training and the ability to ensure the monitoring and completion of established project plans
You have several years of experience working in safety and security operations, ideally in the developing world, some of which would ideally have been with an international or non-governmental organization experience in international development or humanitarian assistance Experience in risk management processes
You are committed to learning and ongoing coaching from Safety and Security Technical Expert
You’re guided by cultural awareness and sensitivity
You have exceptional creative problem-solving ability under high levels of stress and urgency
You have strong planning skills, strong time management, and prioritization skills
You are able to influence others
Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
You currently have the right to work in Canada

WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU EXTRAORDINARY
Spanish language fluency, written and oral
Experience working in a non-profit

REQUIREMENTS
