About The Opportunity
The Security Coordinator will work closely with the Internews Security Department to monitor the security environment in the Central African Republic (CAR), support the development of safety plans and adoption of a culture of safety, and oversee day-to-day security needs for Internews' operations in CAR.
This role reports to the CAR Country Director and the CAR HR, Administration & Logistics Manager.
LOGISTICS
This role is based in Bangui, Central African Republic.

This is a limited-duration position, with an expected end date of July 31, 2023.DAY-TO-DAY TASKS will include:
Documentation, Policies & ProtocolsMonitor the security environment in operational areas and update risk assessments.
Support the development of a safety culture by reinforcing procedures and disseminating best practices.
Liaise with government, military, private security service agencies, community leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure Internews personnel have access to all areas where the program deploys.
Develop monitoring plans and guidance frameworks for the safe conduct of program activities.
Develop and regularly update the Security Management Plan and ensure that all Internews facilities are covered.
Ensure curfew is followed by international and national staff.
Ensure that information packages, maps and briefing kits are updated and distributed when orienting new staff and visitors (national and international) to the overall security situation in CAR and to specific threats.
Conduct security assessments of offices, homes, hosts, sites and project areas and compile reports.
Train, coach and monitor all staff to ensure that minimum country security standards are followed and respected.
Assume responsibility for advising on other security situations as agreed.
Supervise the guards.

Ensure regular security information updates and sharing with staff and follow up on effective two-way communication on security issues.
Monitoring & Communications
Liaise with national and international NGOs, UN and OCHA (office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs), INSO (International NGO Safety Organization), donors, regular army elements, government authorities, private security companies, and other identified stakeholders within the population.

Provide security and incident reports through regular updates to the supervisor and via SMS and messaging to all staff.
Develop and maintain a good understanding of the security context of the areas of operation of CAR.

Fluency in French and Sango is required; professional-level English fluency is strongly preferred but not required.
Prior experience (at least five years) in Security coordination in the non-profit sector, preferably in an international NGO.
Proven ability to handle confidential and/or sensitive information.
Strong grasp of Microsoft Windows environment (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Explorer).
Organized, logical, and detail-oriented.
Ability to work independently under pressure and complete tasks on time.
Ability to communicate with colleagues from different departments.
Experience working in a collaborative international team environment.
