The role provides support and/or technical guidance to country operations while overseeing country activities.

Develop area and country safety management policies, protocols and procedures
Facilitate Safety Risk Assessments (SRAs) and support the implementation of mitigation measures
Analyze, manage and report relevant information within geographical area of responsibility
Maintain relevant safety documentation, data and records for the areas of concern
Develop the capacity of, and coordinate, relevant Crisis Management Teams (CMTs)
Technically advise on the procurement of safety-related equipment, facilities and other resources.
Liaison
Develop area and country safety management policies, protocols and procedures
Facilitate Safety Risk Assessments (SRAs) and support the implementation of mitigation measures
Analyze, manage and report relevant information within geographical area of responsibility
Maintain relevant safety documentation, data and records for the areas of concern
Develop the capacity of, and coordinate, relevant Crisis Management Teams (CMTs)

Liaison
Oversee engagement with the Humanitarian Aid Commission of Sudan (HAC).
Maintain strong understanding of processes and policies related to HAC.
Ensure effective completion of processes related to Visas, Permits and Technical Agreements.
Training, supervision and support
Maintain strong understanding of processes and policies related to HAC.
Ensure effective completion of processes related to Visas, Permits and Technical Agreements.

Mentor and provide technical supervision as needed to local safety and liaison staff
Facilitate surge support as required.

Accountable for making sound decisions based on DRC policies, MOPs, standards, and the advice of technical experts in DRC.

Experience and technical competencies
Minimum 5 years of working experience as a safety and security manager/adviser with an INGO
At least 3 years' experience with people management
Proven leadership skills and a competence in people management
Master's degree (e.g. in political science, peace & conflict studies, history, or disaster management) or a military education
Experience working in multicultural work settings
Proven ability to develop and implement effective and contextualized protocols and systems
Experience with information gathering, analysis and report writing
Ability to conduct and produce high quality safety risk assessments (SRAs)
Experience with critical incident management
Experience with delivering safety-related training
Experience working in hostile or hazardous environments
Experience working with national partners, local/government authorities, and UN organisations.
Full professional proficiency in English.
What we offer
Contract: 1 Year Contract with the possibility of extension, subject to funding and performance.
Salary: in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment Management Band/ F.
Availability: January 2023.
