Base Salary: TBD
Closing date: 31 May 2023

Job Overview:
Are you a passionate humanitarian safety and security professional? Do you have experience in the delivery of safety and security trainings? Are you driven by the need to share your experience with brave humanitarian aid workers to help them deliver their mission safely? Then you might be what we’re looking for!
The IRC is seeking an experienced roving safety and security coordinator to meet ad-hoc security management needs of country programs, including the delivery of its flagship READI program courses in several field locations.
The IRC’s workforce continues to grow and thousands of our colleagues operate, often daily, in high-risk environments. Insecurity continues to pose the single-most severe impediment to humanitarian assistance with emergencies in Afghanistan and Ukraine being recent examples.
This role will include coverage of gaps of security leadership during recruitment processes and periods of leave, or specialist tasks such as delivery of training to frontline staff. The Roving Coordinator will work with country leadership to ensure that organizational security policies and procedures are implemented, responsive to the context, and known to staff. They will prioritize the humanitarian principles, humanitarian needs, duty of care and the IRC’s strategy action plans in their work.
Additionally, to facilitate our mission in a safe and durable manner, colleagues must undertake vital training that will allow them to mitigate potential threats that they, their colleagues, their clients, and their partners may be exposed to. READI is IRC’s flagship Safety & Security learning program encompassing several critical courses delivered to a wide range of participants. READI – Risk Education & Awareness Development Induction – prepares our colleagues to safely deploy to and be ready to work in challenging operating environments. Through risk education, we strive to reach the greatest possible number of people with potentially life-saving information on how to recognize, avoid, respond to and report incidents. Moreover, the course also facilitates the development of critical awareness of individuals to become conscious of themselves, their habits, emotions, and strengths prior, during, and after potential exposure to safety and security threats.
