The Humanitarian Access & Security Coordinator (HAS) Coordinator supports the Country Director and the Field Coordinators in the adaptation of SI safety & security framework to the current context. More specifically:S/He coordinates efforts to access to new hard-to-reach areas, in close collaboration with Fields Coordinators, Security Managers and advisors and CD.
S/He monitors, eases and implements general safety, security and HA trainings to all SI staff over the duration of his/her mission.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Review SI Syria Mission HA, safety & security documentation;
Humanitarian Access, safety and security operationalization
Recruitment and training of the security focal points and SI Staff in general
Security Analysis

Ensure operationalization of security processes
Recruitment and training of the security focal points and SI Staff in general
Security Analysis

PRIORITIES FOR THE 2/3 FIRST MONTHS
Contribute to efforts at mission level to expand to new hard to reach areas
Train and accompany staff on HA assessment

Please note this position requires the HAS Co to travel on short notice, often in difficult circumstances.

YOUR PROFILE

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

University degree in a related area (BA, MA): international relations, international emergency response …


EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL SKILLS

5 years of practical experience of security assessment, planning and implementation of procedures in the context of UN or NGO humanitarian operations
Proven influencing and negotiating skills with internal and external audiences (Access Working Group, donors) including in complex and stressful circumstances (local authorities, community representatives, Armed Groups Leaders…)
Substantial experience of working in conflict-affected areas and of associated risks to personal and organizational security
Security assessment/review experience
Proven critical analysis skills
A sound understanding of gender related challenges
Microsoft Office Pack, working knowledge of spread sheet and database management

+ Experience and / or knowledge of the Syrian crisis is a major asset.
+ Experience with SI is a major asset.

SI WILL OFFER YOU

A SALARIED POSITION
According to experience, starting from EUR 2 640 gross / per month (2400 base salary + 10% annual leave allowance, paid monthly); and a Per Diem of USD 785 / per month.
SI covers both the accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's residency and the field.



LIVING CONDITIONS

Living conditions in Amman are very good with access to a wide range of restaurants, cafes... Most products (food, clothing…) are easily accessible in Amman. Security risks are extremely low and restrictions are very limited.

However, on the field bases, living conditions are more basic, with fewer opportunities for socialization, as well as some individual movements’ restrictions. Security levels vary according to the different geographical locations and changes of context.



BREAKS
During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time off is implemented at the rate of on 7 working days every three months.

SI provides a USD 850 break allowance.

For example, for a one-year assignment, the expatriate will have 7 working days off at 3, 6 and 9 month.

In addition to these, SI adds 1 additional monthly rest day / per month of work, i.e. 12 additional days off for a one-year contract.



MEDICAL INSURANCES
Expatriates benefit from an insurance package, which includes all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system, including war risks.

Essential vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded.
