Consultant Trainers

Job Location: UK/International

Salary: £300-375 day rate
Closing Date: Rolling recruitment
Contract Duration: Consultant / Freelance

About The Position:
We are currently expanding our ‘pool’ of consultant trainers, who are able to deliver our suite of learning programmes to our clients in the UK, online and around the world. Our learning programmes fall into three categories: • Personal Safety, Security and First Aid Training, including HEAT Training • Safety and Security Risk Management, specifically utilising NGO safety risk management frameworks • Strategic and Crisis Risk Management

At ILS we place people at the heart of risk management. In a practical sense this means that all our learning programmes have a very strong focus on understanding human behaviour; such as risk psychology, people management, diverse profiles and the development of active strategies to improve acceptance. This means that ILS trainers do not necessarily need to have served in the armed forces (or constabulary). Instead we look for a rounded professional background that evidences the safe delivery of field programmes and experience of living, travelling and working in complex settings. Occasionally consultants will be asked to travel to deliver training, sometimes into high risk locations, to work closely with our clients. You will work closely with the ILS team of risk advisors and trainers, from whom you will be able to draw technical safety and security knowledge and contextual understanding, where required. We are looking for English, French, Spanish and Arabic speakers with the knowledge, and confidence, to deliver adult learning programmes to a very high standard. ILS demands that all our trainers evidence outstanding knowledge, extensive field experience and a very approachable manner.

Minimum Requirements:
- Extensive experience of training on a range of topics, in particular on safety and security, first aid
or mental health with a culturally diverse audience.
- Experience of working in insecure environments, preferably with security managementm responsibilities.
- 3 years + experience of working in the Humanitarian or Development sector.
- Valid UK driving license.
- Personal Insurance.

Desirable:
- Professional training qualification.
- Experience in training and facilitation including:
o assessing learning needs,
o design of curriculum,
o evaluation of learning events,
o assessment of learning outcomes.
