Summary:

Serve as an Escort with responsibility for coordinating with Chief of Mission (COM) and other USG agency staff to coordinate the entry and exit of non-mission personnel from the Green Zone check-points to the embassy compound. Responsible for advising and providing information to the COM and staff elements, preparing, updating, and maintaining staff estimates, making recommendations with regard to current and future operations, monitoring execution, and keeping the leadership abreast of issues that may impact operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Escort US and foreign nationals with restricted access as directed by the RSO from the Green Zone check-points to the embassy compound and buildings. Escort will follow established RSO protocol while escorting all visitors, such as remain with guests at all times, follow established protocols for each building entered, utilize the most direct unclassified route to each destination, and immediately report any violations or issues to the RSO.
While escorting Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) applicants the personnel will accompany the bus to the collection point, must verify names and appointment dates, account for all family members, accompany SIV candidates and families to the proper gate, must ensure accountability of all candidates and family members and ensure they get inside of the area and return to the collection area.
Escort is required to work multiple issues at the same time. Information must be provided on time and be relevant to the current operation; prepare updates and maintains estimates used by the Director and other staff elements for decision making, estimate must include significant facts, events, conclusions, and recommendations on how available resources can best be used and what additional resources may be required. Make staff recommendations to the Director and members of his staff to assist in decision-making. These recommendations are to provide information and assistance, carefully analyze and compare all feasible alternatives using the best information available, prepare plans and orders to carry out the COM leadership's decisions to include coordinating all necessary details.
Provide assistance to other elements of COM's staff in the planning and executing process. Responsible for monitoring the execution of the decisions by ensuring that subordinate staff elements carry out their assigned tasks, responsible for keeping the leadership and staff elements informed on the progress, problems, roadblocks and outcome of operations.
Identify and analyzes problems that affect the mission goals.
Recommend courses of action to the leadership or staff element to solve potential problems, responsible for correcting problems at the lowest level and travel as necessary to attend program meetings.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Requires a High School Diploma and five (5) years of relevant experience
Successfully pass a federal background check and a drug screen

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position may be located in a war zone, in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to extreme and austere desert-like environment. Temperatures can reach 120- 130 degrees Fahrenheit/50- 55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this austere, extreme environment, as well as willing and able to deploy to Iraq for extended periods. Work schedules are a minimum of 6 days per week and 8 hours per day, while some jobs have higher daily and weekly minimums. Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
