The Role

The Group Security Manager will provide specialist support to our city teams and corporate support teams to ensure they are able to manage security risks and business interruption effectively. The role will endeavour to support and protect all stakeholders through the application of workplace Health and Safety regulations, guidance and best practice. It will focus on developing positive working environments that encourage people to work safely because they want to.

What You'll Be Doing:

Work innovatively and be curious about how we manage security in the business
Bridge the gap between our perception of 'how we work' vs reality, to ensure we have effective systems and controls
Provide analysis of security performance & evaluate information to drive continuous improvement
Work collaboratively with other departments within the business, including sharing skills & knowledge
Align with the company vision, strategy and objectives to bring our communications in line with business language
Provide oversight of wider security projects and workstreams, including: - CCTV, Anti-social behaviour, Third Party Security standards & co-ordination, Terrorism threats, Relationships with PCSOs/ University Security Teams and Business continuity testing
Provide support in major incidents, i.e. provision of an on-call rota, Regional Safety Managers support and investigations
Provide the Director of Safety with clear updates on security performance, risks and successes across the business
Produce monthly reports for H&S meetings/Boards as required by the Director of Safety
Continually seek to improve our safety and security related information for our customers
Develop & maintain an understanding of company strategy & objectives & the operating environment
Be highly organised, effective at time management and ability to keep to budgets
Actively commit to personal and professional development, focusing on leadership skills and wider business knowledge
Maintain an up to date knowledge of new and emerging guidance and legislation
Collaborative working with Group and Regional safety team
Recognise that on occasions work may be required in unsociable/extended hours due to unexpected demands of incidents & accident

What We're Looking for in You:

Experience of working in a security and resilience role
Ability to travel; expected travel is 50-70% of the time.
Holds/working towards professional qualifications (i.e. Level 5 in security, business continuity or crisis management)
Team-spirited and proactive with a positive attitude to work and stakeholders; ability to build credibility
Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), including negotiating, relationship building & influencing
Demonstrates a practical, hands-on approach, willing to take ownership of problems and develop/execute solutions
Track record of providing commercially focused, professional and pragmatic advice and producing quality work on time and to budget
Capable and experienced in working without supervision, whilst maintaining an awareness of one's own limitations
Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and work effectively and successfully within demanding timeframes
