INSO Niger is looking for an experienced person to join the team as Safety Advisor West - based in Tillabery, Niger.

Job Overview:
The Position of Safety Advisor West Tillabery offers a unique opportunity to work with a close-knit team to provide the NGO community with contextual analysis and safety advice. Specific responsibilities include the production of analysis products according to INSO standards, staff mentoring and monitoring service compliance.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in managing the safety and security of NGOs. He/she will be an open, curious, rigorous, and experienced person with the constitution and management of successful teams. The candidate will also have the ability to analyze security issues and complex contexts, to communicate fluently in English and French orally and in writing at an excellent level and, above all, to share INSO's commitment to humanitarian principles.

Main responsibilities:
Ensure in-depth monitoring of Niger's programmes and context with in-depth monitoring of the Tillabery Tahoua and Niamey regions
Establish an active information network bringing together NGOs, the United Nations, the armed forces and other national and international actors in the regions under its responsibility;
Ensure the delivery of INSO products and services (scheduled services and on-demand services) by providing a rapid and credible contextual analysis of the local security situation)
Facilitate regional roundtables on the security of the NGO community;
Manage an operational and support team (log, admin, HR), supervision of national staff;
Support and strengthen the capacities of operational teams;
Participate in various coordination meetings and forums related to humanitarian aid;
Assist NGOs in developing their own security management capacities by providing sound advice, reviewing policy documents, conducting site security investigations and assisting in crisis management coordination;
At the request of the line manager, strengthen and support the internal INSO organization (Analyses, basic opening, drafting of procedures, etc.);
Effectively represent, promote and protect INSO's mandate of independence, impartiality and neutrality.

Job Requirements:
Bilingual, French and fluent English (oral and written) compulsory;
Master's level training or equivalent in a relevant field;
At least 2 years' experience in an NGO position with responsibilities for risk management and humanitarian access;
At least 1 year's experience in a post-conflict/emergency environment in the humanitarian sector;
Excellent writing, analytical and attention to detail skills – the position involves a lot of editing and proofreading work;
Strong understanding of principles and practices in humanitarian action, risk management, security and NGO access;
Good understanding of the INSO mandate and services.

Desirable features:
A year of field experience in the Sahel region and a good understanding of the Nigerien and cross-border context;
Professional background that reflects experience in the areas of security and humanitarian access;
Experience in liaison of humanitarians with armed forces and armed groups (CMCoord);
Experience in capacity building and staff training;
Knowledge of International Humanitarian Law (IHL).

Terms and conditions

12-month contract. Monthly salary of €4,550 per month, 4 calendar days of annual leave per month worked, 07 days of R&R every 03 months with an allowance of €1,250, accommodation, comprehensive medical coverage (excluding the United States) and life insurance included.
