Role purpose
The Security Manager serves as the focal point for Erbil and Baghdad and provides the country team with day-to-day security support. The position will ensure timely and effective communication on security related matters; properly develop and deliver incident reports; and implement and ensure compliance with Blumont’s Security Management Framework, in consultation with the Director, Global Security and Risk Management.

Main responsibilities and tasks
Maintain consistent communication with staff in Iraq, Syria, and Blumont HQ in Arlington VA.
Maintain, update, and implement the Field Office Security Plan on behalf of the Chief of Party
Maintain, update, and activate the Communication Tree when necessary.
Update staff regularly on the security situation in the country and provide appropriate advice after incidents or events.
Conduct security assessments of any prospective Blumont premises, expat/TCN apartments before Blumont signs the lease agreements.
Secure Blumont’s premises and ensure these are safe and secure, and gates are adequately secured to prevent unauthorized entries
Monitor on regular basis and ensure Blumont offices are well equipped with fire extinguishers, first aid kits and emergency contact lists
Monitor the security situation in Erbil and Baghdad, make assessments to support decisions, and make recommendations to the Country Director on actions to be taken to ensure staff security.
Provide new staff and visitors with induction and regular security briefings and updates; and ensure that all staff follow security procedures
Prepare regular security management reports with situational analysis and recommendations.
Prepare and submit incident reports; and manage day to day security including tracking of movements of staff and visitors and provide updated information to senior management.
Maintain a reliable network for security contacts and information sources within Blumont and with other actors

Expected profile
The ideal candidate should have qualifications or equivalent experience in the safety and security field. Experience with donor funded NGO’s is preferred.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a security officer in the humanitarian context.
Should possess experience in responding to security incidents and conducting security assessments
Should demonstrate understanding of humanitarian safety practices and principles and their application.
Should demonstrate previous experience with humanitarian NGO security
Ability to gather information on emerging events and trends quickly and accurately.
Team player, good at building cross-team relationships
Articulate communicator with good written and spoken English
