Description:
This is a standing role for a Senior Soldier Skills Trainer to support the peace operations training for African Contingency Operations Training and Assistance (ACOTA). The Senior Soldier Skills Trainer will be the Team Lead’s senior peace operations soldier skills instructor. The Senior Soldier Skills Trainer will lead efforts to train, mentor, and advise battalion and brigade sized units deploying to peacekeeping missions in support of task order requirements. This role is a part-time training rotation role, requires travel to one of the African countries we operate in and is not an immediate hire.

Responsibilities:
Supervise the instruction of Peacekeeping Operations (PKO) soldier skills to African military units receiving training.
Instruct and supervise PKO soldier skills training in African for African company grade officers and their soldiers who shall deploy to PKOs.
Responsible for ensuring development of POIs, lesson plans, and training support packages for individual and collective training as noted in each task order. Training shall support the preparation of partner country soldiers for the rigors of sustained PKO operations in Africa.
Ensure all training scenarios are based on the most current mission area information from Areas of Operation that African PKO battalions and brigades will deploy to.
Training will involve classroom and field instruction in austere environments. All classes shall be taught in the training language of the partner nation.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum of ten (10) years of U.S. or NATO military experience in a combat arms specialty [combat arms is defined as infantry, armor, cavalry, engineer, field artillery, infantry, or special operations forces].
Experience deployed to an overseas contingency operation since September 11, 2001.
Attainment of military grade of E-7 and higher.
Demonstrated experience as a senior mentor/advisor, military or civilian, to a senior foreign security partner with directly related experience in capacity building and unit-level assessments.
Relevant military operations or foreign security force (police or military) capacity building experience in the last 5 years.
Experience as a senior trainer, military or civilian, to a foreign security partner with directly related experience in capacity building and unit level assessments.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience as an instructor in soldier skills training unit developing individual and collective skills intended to develop technical and tactical proficiency.
Regional experience in Sub-Saharan Africa.
French language proficiency. [Language proficiency is defined as “limited speaking and reading proficiency”, which generally comports to a ILR rating of 2:2, DLAB rating of 2:2, or State Department rating of S-2:R-2.]

Must be an effective communicator both verbally and in writing. Most positions require ability to work on a desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time. Computer activities include reading, reviewing and analyzing information, as well as providing recommendations, summaries, and reports in written or verbal format. Additionally, positions require ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; as well as speak and hear.

Employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically less than 20 pounds. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
