The roleThe Security Manager is a member of the Facility Management Team who works in close collaboration with the Australia Solomon Islands Resource Facility ( ASIRF) Facility Director and the DFAT Regional Security Officer (RSO).
Overseeing all aspects of security and associated risk management for the Facility. This role will also coordinate support and security services for Australian officials and advisors and their dependents, maintaining high levels of safety and customer satisfaction. The position will have regular and formal interaction with the Australian High Commission, and with security guarding companies through its role in capacity building of the latter.
Reporting to ASIRF’s Facility Director and DFAT RSO, the Security Adviser lead the Facility Security unit, providing oversight and guidance for unit staff to ensure continuous improvement in security policies and procedures in line with the dynamic threat environment while identifying opportunities for staff development.
The adviser will also:
Lead the Facility’s Contingency Planning, including maintenance of the Security Plan, Provincial Travel Plans, and other related documents.
In collaboration with the Facility Director, DSS Manager and RSO coordinate responses to security incidents including natural disasters and civil disorder. Ensure procedures are clearly articulated in the Business Continuity Plan, Security Risk Assessments for individuals and office/residential accommodation, and the Security Management Plan.
Ensure security procedures for all advisers and sub-contractors are followed. Ensure Cardno’s Incident Reporting and Security procedures are integrated into the Facility.
In consultation with DFAT RSO, provide regular and timely security alerts and updates consistent with DFAT advice and protocols to whole-of-government and contracted advisers.

About you
You will have:
Tertiary qualifications in security, public safety, risk management or related discipline.
Demonstrated ability to work in complex operating environments, demonstrating strong and calm leadership.
Experienced specialist in responding to civil disorder, terrorist activities and natural disasters.
Demonstrated experience in creating and maintaining security and business continuity plans, risk assessments and planning documents.
Demonstrated experience in thinking strategically with regards to the health, security, environmental and safety impacts on personnel based in country.
Demonstrated ability to act under pressure, with excellent problem solving and decision-making abilities.
Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing security policies, protocols, and procedures
