The Opportunity

Regional Humanitarian Access and Security Manager (Deployable)

ROLE PURPOSE

The postholder will provide high-quality strategic guidance and technical advice, support and capacity-strengthening to Save the Children (SCI) country offices and partners in management of humanitarian access and security. S/he will lead on planning and operationalising of strategies and approaches that will increase the reach, acceptance, and efficacy of SCI programmes, particularly in difficult-to-access areas of operations, via contributions in humanitarian negotiations; mediation; community acceptance strategies; access coordination, mapping and analysis; remote programming; civil-military coordination, and armed non-state actors' engagement.

In order to be successful you will bring/have:
Masters' degree or higher in humanitarian assistance, social science, peace and conflict studies, security studies, international relations, International Humanitarian Law or another demonstrably related field, or sufficient equivalent field experience.
Professional in humanitarian affairs with extensive experience in humanitarian response at field level in a diverse range of insecure contexts, including at least one in Latin America / Caribbean.
Extensive experience in operational security management for teams working in humanitarian response (both rapid-onset emergencies and protracted crises) in volatile settings, preferably while having overall responsibility for humanitarian programme implementation / delivery, or as a dedicated security and access manager facilitating programme implementation and related advocacy.


Experience in the design and development of training related to community acceptance, humanitarian access and security management.


Experience developing community acceptance strategies to facilitate humanitarian access in volatile contexts, capacity building of internal and external stakeholders on relevant issues.


Demonstrated experience of capacity building of internal and external stakeholders on relevant issues.


Excellent listening, inter-personal, communication and networking skills; proven experience and effectiveness working across functional teams and in a complex matrixed structure; advanced cultural awareness and an ability to work with diverse populations.


Willingness to learn and address sensitive issues related to care and prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment incidents in humanitarian contexts.


Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish.
