The HALO Trust is seeking candidates for the role of Operations Manager in the Middle East and North Africa region. 

Applicants must be fluent in Arabic (C2 level or mother tongue), and be able to demonstrate experience of leading and managing teams. Prior experience in mine action and ordnance disposal is not required as a full training course will be provided upon employment.

Candidates may either work in their home country where HALO has a programme (see where we work at www.halotrust.org), or may be posted to other countries in the region.

The mission of the HALO Trust is: “To lead the effort to save lives and restore livelihoods for those affected by conflict”. HALO clears landmines, disposes of explosive ordnance including IEDs, and is involved in weapon control.

On the course you will receive technical training in all forms of explosive ordnance clearance and disposal, and survey. You will also learn about HALO’s support and quality management systems.

Requirements
ESSENTIAL
Experience: At least two years of relevant professional experience (experience outside of Mine Action is welcomed)
Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and direct others, build effective relationships and develop potential
Proactive: Able to identify problems and address them; self-motivated and able to work independently
Team Work: Work effectively with others, committed to shared goals and willing to offer support
Practical Ability: Will do whatever is required to get the job done; comfortable with physical labour and adept at picking up new practical skills
Communication: Fluency in Arabic (C2), strong English language skills (B2) in oral and written communication; able to be both persuasive and diplomatic across cultures
Resilience and Stamina: Able to cope with physically demanding conditions
Computer/IT Skills: Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Flexibility: Adaptable, and able to adjust to changing circumstances.
Driving licence: Full licence required

STEM qualification or experience
Experience of working or living with people from different cultures

Project management.
