This post is managed by UNOPS on behalf of the UN in Denmark and the Deputy Security Adviser will be reporting directly to the Chief Security Adviser (CSA) for Denmark or in his absence to the Designated Official. He/she will assist the CSA with the overall security infrastructure, supervise the security guard team and be responsible for the day-to-day management of security at UN Compounds in Copenhagen. He/she will be responsible for preparing the SRM, Security Budget and for maintaining the country security plan.


The incumbent functions within the framework of the UN Security Management System in Denmark, under the supervision and general guidance of the Chief Security Adviser. The position is responsible for providing effective and efficient security services to enable the safe conduct of the United Nations in Denmark. The incumbent promotes a compliance and client-oriented approach consistent with UNOPS rules and regulations and UN Security Management System policies. He/she works closely with and advises the UN Agencies, Funds and Programmes present in Denmark on security related issues.


Education/Experience/Language requirements
Education:


Advanced university degree in social or political science, law, public administration, business management or security management is required OR
A first-level university degree in combination with an additional 2 years' relevant experience (7 in total) at the international level OR
A Technical/Professional Diploma in combination with an additional 4 years (9 in total) relevant, international and national experience OR
Secondary Diploma in combination with an additional 6 years’ (11 in total) relevant, international and national experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree OR
Substantial experience (a minimum of 11 years) in civilian police/military may be accepted in lieu of formal education.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of responsible experience in international security management, with at least 3 years in a senior role.
Demonstrated experience and exposure in compound/physical security and/or international security -related issues is required.
Direct experience with the United Nations Security Management System is a strong advantage.
Ability to produce Standard Operating Procedures/Security Risk Assessments/Security Plans in accordance with UNSMS methodology is an asset.


Language requirements:
Full knowledge of English is essential.
Knowledge of another official UN official language is an asset
