Main Purpose:
Responsible for managing the Puma Energy’s security operations and compliance to company security and safety standards. The Security Manager is responsible for security of Puma Energy’s personnel located at all the various sites in Papua New Guinea.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Source security intel and updates from all Puma PNG locations and provide regular security briefings/updates to senior Management and all staff.
Coordinate with governmental agencies such as police, fire and any safety regulatory bodies in regards to the business’s security needs.
Establish and maintain security policies and procedures and regularly update security measures to reduce any internal and external threats/risks and ensuring full compliance with all legislative acts including HSE standards.
Ensure that all reports are completed properly and in a timely manner, duly communicated to the appropriate reporting levels/authorities and all necessary actions are commenced as soon as required.
Act as focal point for any investigations involving security; to prepare reports and note follow up action.
Ensure that control access to critical areas where the need for access arises outside of normal operating hours.
Report any significant security breaches to the HSEC Manager and/or General Manager; undertake full investigation; recommend course of action in consultation with the HSEC Manager and/or GM.
Ensure that the appropriate level of training is provided for all security staff on disasters; fire and bomb procedures, use of technical equipment and routine security duties. Ensure that knowledge is tested several times per year.
Establish and maintain as security KPIs to ensure that contractors’ performance is monitored and managed effectively.
Comply with company requirements and systems relating to SAPS, HSEC & Quality and other company policies.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
Recognized security qualification would be desirable
Background in general Police work
Security professional with a proven management experience within the security industry, the public sector or armed services
A sound working knowledge of security best practice and legislation affecting the security role
Holder of a First Aid and Police clearance certification
Skills:
Strong management and leadership skills together with excellent communication, influencing, negotiating and engagement skills
Basic IT skills with a working knowledge of the range of MS Office packages and knowledge of electronic security systems.
Sound judgment and decision making skills, with a ‘hands on’, problem solving approach, able to remain calm under pressure and take control of incidents
Experience of writing procedures, drafting reports, preparing business cases and compiling and adjusting duty rosters to meet shortfalls in staffing levels
Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently
Competencies:
Extensive Police or Military background or similar background Knowledge of industrial safety
Effective communication in both Pidgin and English
Physically fit
Ability to self-motivate
Able to work without supervision
Personal integrity
