Under supervision of Emergency Service Dispatcher Supervisor, this position is responsible for receiving emergency information and dispatching emergency services personnel.
Responsibilities

Monitors the fire alarm system equipment.
Answers 911 and non-emergency phones calls via land, VoIP, whatsapp or cell phone and processes, prioritizes, and dispatches appropriate response units as needed.
Receives alarms, alerts and dispatches firefighting and/or medical crew.
Records data and updated relative databases and/or reports in the CAD system and the Emergency Reporting System.
Receives and relays pertinent communication in CAD.
Provides recommendations on how to ensure the call center functions more effectively and efficiently.
Responsible for the quality of the information collected and communicated to the First Responder
Gather data and conducts analysis to improve processes as required
Determines and assigns the level of priority of the call and enters the data into a computer-aided dispatch system for radio dispatch
Performs emergency medical dispatch (EMD) and crisis intervention services
Ask vital questions and provide pre-arrival instructions for emergency medical calls
Monitors and operates a radio console and computer equipment
Receives and responds to a variety of emergency and non-emergency services and complaints
Ask questions to interpret, analyze and anticipate the caller’s situation as to resolve problems, provide information, dispatch emergency services, or refer callers to other agencies
Identifies appropriate number and type of equipment or apparatus to dispatch
Simultaneously handles multiple communication channels such as radio, telephone, and SMS messaging
Sends SMS alert messages for emergency and severe weather information
Interact with callers to obtain relevant information regarding their location, identity and emergency situation
Maintains accurate record of emergency calls, messages and dispatch details using the computer aided dispatch system
Monitors the location and availability of fire and EMS units so as to dispatch appropriate teams during emergencies
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of radio transmission, broadcasting, control and operation of telecommunication systems
Reads and interprets maps so as to provide first responders with clear directions
Monitor weather forecast to alert employees and first responders through the SMS alert messaging system.
Makes phone notifications to Senior Leadership and the Military regarding emergency events.
Emails event reports to DES personnel
Performs other duties or assignments as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: One-Year of education may be substituted for one year of experience.
Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

Must be Secret Clearance eligible and/or able to obtain a Secret Clearance
Must be able to obtain and maintain a host count driver's license.

The definition of fully vaccinated is that you’ve: 1.) received a vaccine that is recognized by the governing entity and is either a.) Two doses of Pfizer BioNTech Vaccine b.) Preferred Qualifications:
Typing speed of 40 wpm or more
One (1) year experience with Computer Aided Dispatch systems
One (1) year experience monitoring Fire Alarm Systems
Three (3) years’ experience with MCC 7500 Elite Dispatch Radio Systems
One (1) year experience with the Emergency Reporting System.
Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes dispatching emergency and/or non-emergency services; operating various telecommunication systems and/or equipment or approximately Five (5) experience dispatching security or law enforcement.
Skills:
Excellent computer, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills required. Computer skills include a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Monitor and respond to a variety of technical systems and alarms.
Working Conditions:
Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, duty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months).
Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
Physical Requirements:
Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents. Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices. Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
