Safety & Security Advisor

Position Summary:  
As part of a technical assistance project under PRM-funded Resettlement & Placement activities, HIAS seeks a Safety & Security Advisor to support the development of safety and security management systems across the refugee resettlement agencies network.

Essential Functions:
Liaises with Resettlement Agency leadership to develop a strategic approach to Resettlement Agency security.
Provides customized support and consultation to Resettlement Agencies across the country.
Supports Resettlement Agency leadership in responding to safety and security incidents impacting staff and clients.
Advises resettlement agency staff on best practices in physical and digital security management.
Liaises with GISF and other community stakeholders to strengthen coordination on security management issues.
Conducts security trainings and assessments to bolster security risk awareness and compliance with Duty of Care principles and donor guidelines.
Develops measurable outputs for the overall development of security management across the Resettlement Agencies.
Develops incident reporting and response systems across Resettlement Agencies.
Develops culture of security risk awareness across Resettlement Agencies.

Qualifications & Requirements:
Undergraduate degree (or extensive highly relevant experience in addition to that listed below) required.
A formal security qualification or appropriate security management training.
A minimum of 10 years of practical experience in security management, including in leadership roles.
Experience providing security management services across multiple locations across the U.S. a plus.
Experience working with decentralized network of organizations a plus.
Understanding of humanitarian principles and their application in humanitarian security risk management.
Proven ability to work within a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic team.
Experience of risk assessment, incident reporting, incident mapping, information collation and analysis, and security technology.
Ability to adapt to needs and balance demands of security actors and program activities and deliverables.
Strong computer skills in MS Office, internet, and email applications; strong report writing, analytical and interpersonal skills.
Fluent in written and spoken English; language skills in Spanish a plus.
Previous working experience with humanitarian organizations a plus.
Ability to travel extensively across the continental U.S. up to 25% of the time.
