Embarked Maritime Security Trainer , Africa

Location: Malabo Equatorial Guinea

US Based - Spanish speaking.

We are currently searching for experienced former-US military personnel who are well-versed in Naval and Coastguard operations and maritime security, in order to deploy and assist with security measures for a prestigious client’s offshore project in Equatorial Guinea.

The role will most suit former members of the US Navy or Coastguard, however all candidates should have a comprehensive and robust knowledge of maritime security and BMP 5 as well as the latest piracy threats and geopolitical considerations. Spanish speakers are preferred for this role as close liaison with local officials and stakeholders will be required.Working in teams of 2 on client vessels for 8-week rotations, this role will primarily involve providing maritime security training and improving security awareness of crews on board client vessels. Similarly, as part of this role, successful candidates will be required to provide high-level anti-piracy consulting to the client’s offshore project.

Primary Role and Requirements
Conduct initial evaluation of military personnel supporting Company operations, to include tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) and organic operational, communication and logistical support.
Observe and provide feedback, conduct corrective training on an array of maritime security and communications procedures and review or establish protocols and emergency action drills while protecting project assets.
Plan and conduct drills and exercises to reinforce training.
Review events and reporting on piracy and other maritime security events in the Gulf of Guinea as provided by Company and brief to on board EG military and crew.
Maintain a daily log of events during operations and disseminate to designated Company Representative.

Person Specification
Bachelor’s Degree education desirable
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required in English and Spanish
Minimum 10 years of experience in Maritime Security (private industry and/or government/military)
Protective Security Detail training and experience required.
Oil and gas industry experience desirable.
Proficient with Maritime radar and tracking systems as well as security, electronic and communication systems.
Must be self-confident, well organized, possess initiative, the ability to handle multiple tasks and to work with minimum supervision
Ability to implement a training program and train individuals and small teams in Spanish.
Strong leadership traits and demonstrated ability to make sound decisions with limited information, time and resources
Must be able to function as part of a team
Must provide medical verification of mental and physical fitness for such duties
STCW qualifications are a mandatory requirement
