Goal of the position:
The Ammunition Technical Officer (ATO) will work to facilitate HALO's goal of enhancing the capabilities of host countries in effectively managing the life cycle of small arms and light weapons (SALW) and ammunition. Under the direction of the project director, regional director and WAM technical advisor, the ATO's experience and expertise will help shape HALO's approach to Institutional Capacity Development in the Latin American Region. HALO is working directly with national authorities as part of a capacity development initiative to ensure a long-term sustainable solution.
HALO has been active in Central America since September 2017, working in partnership with the regional governments of Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras. Our mission is to achieve lasting change by supporting each country's security sector reform objectives, through specific capacity building projects in weapons and ammunition management (WAM).
HALO is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Ammunition Technical Officer (ATO) to join the current project team to assist in the design and implementation of an institutional capacity development project that seeks to improve the life cycle management and safety of handguns. and light and ammunition in the Central American region. The ATO will contribute to the overall effort by planning and executing operations in accordance with the International Technical Guidelines on Munitions (IATG) and the Modular Handgun Control Implementation Compendium (MOSAIC), and will ensure that these are consistent with policies and regulations.
