Post Security Manager and Transport Officer , Brazil

Main purpose of job:

The jobholder will work in an operationally vital role as an integral part of a small, highly efficient Network Corporate Service team in a demanding, important and enjoyable role. The role will be based in the British Consulate in Sao Paulo and will mainly help ensure the security of staff, ensure transport availability and provide logistical support. You will be joining a dynamic security environment where Learning and Development is at the centre of the vision.

He/she will need to deliver in a demanding, important and ultimately rewarding position. He / she will have the responsibility of managing of the security and transport functions within Sao Paulo and Recife. The role is varied and provides opportunities to support visits to the network, with some travel opportunities. The role will need an effective communicator effectively, who can work closely across the Brazil network with the security team. There are significant line management responsibilities.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

Security
Daily oversight and line management of a team of security guards; guarding the residence and the British Consulate.
Work closely with senior management to establish and maintain a culture of security awareness across your posts. Brief all Country and UK based staff new arrivals on security.
Supervise and where necessary, arrange maintenance of security equipment (metal detector arches, X-ray scanners, CCTV, radios etc).
Conduct periodical physical security checks of UK staff residences and accommodations, then compile written reports.
Assist with visits as detailed by the ROSM.
Prepare monthly briefings on security; in particular crime statistics, and report to ROSM.
Build a network of contacts across Sao Paulo and Recife; including police, fire, civil contingency and commercial contacts.
Supervise the operation and testing of the local emergency radio network(s) where applicable.
Attend functions and build key relationships with other embassies, particularly the 5I’s community.
Conduct emergency response drills, including intruder exercise and fire alarm tests.

Transport & Logistics
Ensure that vehicle logbooks and car documents are up to date and comply with local/UK regulations.
Daily management of a Consulate driver. Ensure that all transport requests are dealt with efficiently, providing alternative transport when required.
Assist with the purchasing and disposing of official vehicles.
Ensure effective maintenance of all official fleet vehicles.
Work closely with colleagues across the network on official visits.
Deal with incoming and outgoing diplomatic and freight bags

Essential qualifications, skills and experience

Essential on arrival:
Security background, minimum 5 years; Corporate/Police/Military.
Local Knowledge of Sao Paulo

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
Desirable:

Good verbal and written skills including the use of Mircosoft tools
Experience/knowledge of Health & Safety work practices.
