Marine Security Crewmember

Location: Onboard Cruise Ship (Port Royal 
Town in South Carolina USA )

The Marine Security Crewmember provides high-quality security to both our vessels and the defined facility to ensure both the safety and protection of both. The Marine Security Crewmember is consistently visible to the facility crew, various levels of operational management, as well as other marine business partners. This position dedicates a large amount of time to security rounds and safety checks of the vessel, surrounding area and facility
Position will be located in Port Royal SC.
Rotational position working 6 weeks on / 3 weeks off.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure the safety and security of the defined facility and all Victory Cruise Line vessels as assigned
Monitor the vessels’ surrounding areas and the facility to ensure the safety and security of both
Maintain daily security rounds, use point logging system when assigned, and taking notes of any security breaches and/or inconsistencies
Enforce and comply with Facility and Vessel Security Plans as assigned
Create reports of any and all security and safety issues and/or potential security/safety risks
Coordinate the swift resolution of any security/safety issues with management and the other marine security crewmembers
Closely monitor all facility Access points, gangways aboard the vessel for visitors and unauthorized personnel
Verify all visitors are authorized to enter the facility or board the vessel, check credentials and forms of identification, and appropriately log same as per facility and or vessel security plan.
Perform Vehicle checks prior to allowing on facility, if required by facility security plan
Assist the Port Operations, Vessel Logistics Manager and vessel Security Officer with security/safety projects, as needed
Work closely with other onboard marine security crewmembers to deliver the highest possible security of the vessels
Able to successfully execute all onboard security and safety drills, in accordance with various regulations, laws and policies
Abide by all American Queen Steamboat Company and Victory policies, procedures, and guidelines.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
HS Diploma or Equivalent Required

Professional Certification(s) and/or License:
Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) – must be current for full duration of assigned duty period
Valid Merchant Marine Credential (MMC) including basic safety training, security awareness training, and the International Convention on Standards, Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW)
STCW VI/6 – VPDSD endorsement or Certificate of completion of Marine Facility Security Officer training coarse
Copy of DD214, if Veteran status

Skills & Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be fluent in English
Ability to work independently with little direction
Ability to independently plan, organize and complete work assignments
Ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a pleasant and professional manner
Proficiency with MS Office applications.
Logically and independently plan, organize, and complete work assignments
Must maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance

Experience:
1-3 years of experience in position with similar duties and responsibilities
Cruise industry experience preferred

Working Conditions:
The majority of work is performed in a Marine environment in both indoor and outdoor conditions with exposure to various temperatures and weather conditions, along with a moderate to loud noise level.
The Marine operation is subject to varied wake and motion.
Positions both live and work onboard.
Stand and walk on nearly a constant basis; work long hours each day.
Bend, rotate and reach frequently
Carry, push/pull and/or lift materials that may weigh upwards of 50 lbs.
Ascend/descend stairs and/or ladders safely
Manipulate/handle/grip materials required to perform job
Maneuver through/in/around small and/or confined areas within the vessel
Maintain both static and dynamic standing balance to complete various duties associated with job

Other:
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Submit to and pass alcohol and drug tests as mandated by the USCG including but not limited to pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident/incident testing.
Pass pre-employment background check.
