We are looking for an experienced person to join our team as Mobile Safety Advisor, based in Bangui, with frequent trips to our other two offices.
Summary of functions
The Safety Advisor position offers a unique opportunity to work with a tight-knit team to provide the NGO community with contextual analysis and safety advice, in a global effort to improve humanitarian access. The specific responsibilities include the production of analysis products according to organization standards, staff training / advice, monitoring of the conformity of services.
The successful candidate will have solid experience in NGO security and safety management. He will be an open, curious, rigorous, and experienced person, with the responsibility of building and managing high-performance teams. The candidate will also have the ability to analyze security issues and complex contexts, to communicate fluently in French orally and in writing at an excellent level. Above all, it will also have to respect organization's commitment to humanitarian principles.
Main responsibilities
Ensure the delivery of organization RCA products and services (scheduled and on-demand services) by providing a rapid and credible contextual analysis of the local security situation, in accordance with internal delivery standards and policies.
Support the coordination in Bangui for the supply of products of transversal and in-depth analyzes on specific situations;
Carry out regular field missions in support of NGO partners in addition to the work carried out by the operations offices of Bangui, Bossangoa and Bambari;
Facilitate round tables on the safety of the NGO community and orientation briefings on the situation in CAR for new arrivals;
Participate in the training of internal staff of organization in RCA;
Help the country office to set up an active information network bringing together NGOs, the United Nations, the armed forces and other national and international actors in the region.
Participate in various coordination meetings and forums related to humanitarian aid.
Help NGOs develop their own security management capacities by providing sound advice, reviewing policy documents, carrying out site security surveys and assisting in the coordination of crisis management.
Represent, promote and protect effectively the mandate of independence, impartiality and neutrality of organization.
Manage a small operational team, including supervision of national staff.
Mandatory features
Fluent French (compulsory) and working knowledge of English (oral and written)
Masters level training or experience in a relevant field
Experience in a post-conflict / emergency environment in the humanitarian sector
Excellent writing skills, analysis and attention to detail - the position involves a lot of editing and proofreading.
Strong understanding of humanitarian action principles and practices, NGO risk management and security
Preferred features
One year of experience in the Central African Republic - ideally in a role of NGO security manager or equivalent - and a good understanding of the context.
Professional background which reflects experience in the security and civil fields.
Experience in NGO liaison with armed forces and armed groups (CMCOORD).
Experience in capacity building and staff training
Previous experience in a similar role in an NGO

Terms and conditions: 12-month contract with a desired start date of July 1, 2021. Monthly salary of € 4550 per month, 4 calendar days of annual leave per month worked, 7 days of R&R every 2 months with an allowance of € 1250, accommodation, comprehensive medical coverage (excl. USA) and life insurance included.
