Description
The British Red Cross are looking for an experienced Security Officer with a background in international security for a humanitarian organisation who will provide security expertise and support the application of international safety and security policy for staff travel and work overseas with the British Red Cross in order to ensure continuity in delivery of programmes.
What you will be doing

As the International Security Officer, you will work as part of a team with the International Safety and Security Adviser on implementing, evaluating and updating the British Red Cross Overseas Safety and Security Framework.

You will identify security risks to people, programmes, reputation and assets and make recommendations on how to manage these risks, all to enable the work of the British Red Cross overseas.
Main responsibilities will include:
As part of the International Safety and Security Unit, provide information and guidance to staff and managers as a subject matter expert on security policy and procedures
Act as a focal point in UK head office (UKO) for providing information and guidance on overseas travel security
Under the direction of the International Safety and Security Adviser, organise and deliver security training across the organisation
Develop existing security incident reporting mechanisms to improve reporting levels
What British Red Cross are looking for:


It is essential that you have demonstrable experience of working in security management in the humanitarian sector in UK and overseas.

You will have experience of risk management frameworks and risk assessment and be able to produce evidence of providing security advice including support to critical incident management.

With previous inter-agency and NGO field experience, you will also have experience of coordination in the delivery of humanitarian security training.

Candidates will also have up-to-date knowledge of current thinking and trends in security management in the humanitarian sector in UK and overseas, the ability to work both independently and as a team member and also evidence of knowledge of personal security and safety issues affecting humanitarian personnel.
