Main Responsibilities
Join our Operations Security Branch. As the Security Coordination Officer you will be responsible for the physical security to the OPCW Headquarters and Laboratory premises, as well as for the oversight of mission security. You will be responsible for the implementation of modern security controls. You will review the OPCW policies and procedures; undertake performance of security risk assessments; and facilitate security coordination with the host country authorities and other international organisations in-country and abroad.

Qualifications and Experience
Education
Essential:
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in security management, business administration, political/social science, psychology, criminal justice, law, international relations or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two years of additional relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A first-level university degree may be substituted with specialised training from a police or military education institution, college or academy obtained over a minimum of a three-year period in combination with an additional 4 years of relevant experience.
Desirable:
Relevant UNDSS training in Security Certification Program, as well as other security training including Security Analysis Practices and Procedures, and other relevant certified courses. Formal training in crisis management is considered as an asset.
Knowledge and Experience
Essential:
A minimum of five (5) years with advanced university degree (seven (7) years with a first-level university degree or 11 years with specialised training) of progressively responsible experience in security, risk, disaster or emergency management in the public or private service areas, such as national security, military or police, or in a corporate environment is required.
Of these, at least 2 years of international experience in security operations and exposure at the field level is required.
Desirable:
Experience working within the UN Security Management System as well as experience in crisis management is desirable. Experience in security operations planning and/or security analysis and information management is considered as an asset.
Skills and Competencies
This role requires knowledge of security management in a multi-national environment, combined with a solid background in security or emergency and disaster operations. You will need openness in sharing information and keeping people informed for which you will require good and appropriate oral and written communications skills. An ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals is key. We value the ability to identify priority activities and assignments; to adjust priorities as required, and the ability to think critically when analysing risks.
Languages
Fluency in English is essential and a good working knowledge of one of the other official languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is desirable.
