The Opportunity
As the Security Advisor in the Central African Republic, you will advise the Country Director on security challenges, develop security and risk assessments and propose risk reduction measures in addition to developing, maintaining, updating and implementing security protocols and operating procedures according to the changing situation. You will also ensure that employees in Plan International CAR are working within an environment consistent with accepted minimum safety and security standards, respecting the mandatory Plan International Security Policy and Duty of care.
In this role you will encompass the development of security plans and mainstream the individual and collective sense of security and safety awareness and responsibility. This will include ensuring safety and security dimensions are factored into all operational activities such as programming (including budget), advocacy and communication.
The Individual
We are looking to recruit a resilient and adaptable individual who has knowledge of the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action, Sphere and the Red Cross/NGO Code of Conduct. You will also have demonstrable knowledge in International Humanitarian Law, Security Management, Logistics, Disaster Risk Management, Duty of Care and Compliance. You will have excellent skills in general finance, administration, information management and telecommunication, and proficiency in information technology/computer skills.
To be successful in this role you will have excellent written and oral communication skills, along with effective representation and negotiation skills, allowing you to communicate clearly and sensitively with internal and external stakeholders as a representative of Plan. You will demonstrate awareness and sensitivity to gender and diversity and you will have the capacity to make accurate self-assessments, particularly in high stress and high security contexts.
