Main Purpose
The Security Supervisor monitors all daily security services, procedures and systems and supervises security personnel. He / she instructs security personnel and advises FAO staff members and visitors on security guidelines and emergency procedures. He/ she contributes to maximize the security of FAO staff, visitors and property at all times.
Supervision Received/Exercised

The Security Supervisor works under the overall guidance of the Chief, Security Services and the direct supervision of a Security Officer.

The incumbent operates independently, takes decisions on work priorities and exercises experienced judgment. Supervision received is focused on the quality of work outputs. The incumbent provides guidance, advice and coordination to other security support staff.

Working Relationships
The Security Supervisor is in frequent contact with security staff on all levels, with FAO staff and visitors, and liaises at the working level with police authorities, local administration, fire services and other emergency services including natural disasters.

Key Functions/Results
Supervise all security staff on duty; monitor the daily attendance, assign daily duties to security staff and ensure that the posts are covered at all times; in the case of emergencies or unforeseen absences arrange for replacement;
Assess the performance of duties and quality of services of security staff; report any deficiencies to the Supervisor;
Intervene and mediate in cases of controversy between security staff and/or staff members and/or visitors;
Act as a role model in the performance of security services; instruct and train security staff in the entire range of security services, including fire control and physical security of the premises, personnel safety and first aid procedures, use of equipment and operation of the automated alarm and video surveillance systems;
Respond to staff security emergencies and provide and/or organize immediate assistance; call emergency services outside working hours and perform first aid, if required;
Liaise with police authorities, local administration, fire services and other emergency services to ensure safety and security measures;
Ensure security and safety measures during special events at FAO premises;
Ensure appropriate assistance in cases of theft, acts of vandalism or other actions including natural disasters endangering staff members, visitors and FAO property; carry out enquiries and investigate incidents;
Represent / cover for the Supervisor, if necessary;
Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Secondary School Education

Experience: Six years of experience with a national or international police force, armed forces, a private security organization, fire brigade or security service of a large organization. Experience in managing teams and a limited number of assets

Languages: Working knowledge (Level C) of English and Italian

IT Skills: Good knowledge of the MS Office applications, Internet and office technology equipment
