Security Officer, Syria/MENA

Position Background
The Security Officer is responsible for providing security support to the program. The incumbent will be responsible for the effective and efficient management of ICMP resources allocated to meet program objectives and for ensuring that adequate safety and security measures are in place to protect program staff, assets and equipment.

Under the supervision of the Head of Program (Syria/MENA), the Security Officer's main duties and responsibilities will include the following:
Advise the Head of Program and HQ management team on security related matters that affect the program activities, its assets, people and information
Draft periodic security reports for the Head of Program and ICMP headquarters senior management team
Develop and maintain an effective security information management system aimed at identifying potential threats and risks to the programmatic activities
Develop, maintain and implement the program’s security risk management plan, including provisions for evacuation
Draft program specific security policies and procedures
Plan and coordinate ICMP staff movements within the area of operations, notably to higher risk areas
Act as the interface between the program and private security provider(s) (if required)
Develop and implement a security induction training course for new staff members and review/update security training requirements for all program staff
Conduct periodic physical security assessments of offices and accommodation and recommend cost effective enhancements aimed at safeguarding personnel, assets and information
Performing other related duties as required.
Requirements
High school diploma; university degree or professional qualification in logistics, supply chain management, security, risk management or related field desirable
At least six years of professional experience in security management, ideally including experience working in, or with, international organizations
Knowledge of security risk management principles and concepts
Established ability to identify and analyze problems and to take corrective action
Possession of a valid driving license
Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels of the organization
Ability to build effective relationships with suppliers, representatives of partner organizations and staff
Ability to multitask heavy workloads and multiple projects in a challenging environment
Ability to lead effectively and transparently in a diverse team environment.

Mandatory Requirements
Professional fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic; Turkish and/or Kurdish is desirable
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel and Power Point
Proven ability to interact positively with colleagues regardless of culture, nationality or gender
Ability to travel at short notice and to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings
Physical and mental resilience, with the ability to operate effectively in hostile environments.
Commitment to the underlying objective of helping the authorities and families of the missing to account for missing persons in an impartial and transparent manner.

This is a full-time position with a competitive base salary at the LES 6 level on the ICMP Syria/MENA salary scale, generous paid leave and extensive health insurance benefits for the incumbent and any eligible dependent.

This position is not eligible for expatriate allowances.
