Any Additional Incentives (Danger Pay %, Post Differential %, Reduced Per Diem, etc.) Advisors are authorized to receive a reduced per diem of $3,000 per month. Advisors receive a commensurate reduction to the M&IE portion of the $3,000 reduced per diem for the travel days spent away from his/her regular duty station. This reduction is based on the Department of State (DOS) per diem rate that was in effect on October 1, 2015. The following example is provided to illustrate how to calculate the reduced per diem, particularly when advisor is traveling away from the duty station (Sarajevo):

In Bosnia, the maximum lodging is $115.00 and the maximum M&IE is $72, which is a ratio of 61% for lodging and 39% for M&IE. When applied to the $3,000 reduced per diem, the lodging portion is $1,830 and the M&IE portion is $1,170. The M&IE portion is divided by 30, which comes to $39.00 per day that should be deducted for each day that an advisor is away from his/her duty station.
