The Heavy Vehicle Operator is responsible for operating company vehicles and equipment with up to forty (40) tons of capacity to move materials, tools, and equipment.

Principal Accountabilities
Operate company vehicles with a capacity of up to forty (40) tons (both straight and combination vehicles) to move materials, tools, equipment, and supplies to and from work locations
Load and unload vehicles
Perform vertical movement of material or equipment to and from trucks and trailers
Inspect, clean, and perform operator level maintenance on equipment in accordance with standards
Closely interact with the customer for movement of materials and equipment
Perform daily checks to ensure equipment is in safe operating condition and properly utilized, maintained, and stored
Follow related safety regulations, contract requirements, company policies, and operating procedures
Complete necessary documentation, reporting, and limited office duties
Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of equipment safety, maintenance, and storage
Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently in order to complete reports, read safety topics, etc.
Skill in coupling and uncoupling trailers, connecting or disconnecting air and electrical lines, and manipulating fifth-wheel locks
Skill in driving both automatic and standard transmission vehicles, both straight and combinations trucks, maneuvering tractor-trailer into loading or unloading positions, following hand and arm signals from others, and working as part of a team

Experience & Education
Minimum three (3) years of verifiable over-the-road experience in a combination truck or tractor-trailer rig
Prefer OCONUS experience operating equipment in an environment with military services, commercial agencies, and host nation elements
High School Diploma or equivalent
Current Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) equivalent to a US Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements, and qualified to operate M88A1 and M984A1 vehicles
Acceptable driving record
Prefer Equipment Operator training and certificate from National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), verifiable military or civilian Equipment Operator training from construction field, or related certification issued by a previous employer
Must be able to meet the medical deployment requirements IAW CENTCOM MOD15


Physical Requirements/Working Environment
Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds, bend, stoop, and work safely around equipment, materials, supplies, and other items to be handled
Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions

Travel
Ability to travel domestically and internationally
Must have ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance at proper level
