About the Team
The mission of the Airbnb Safety and Security (S&S) team is to foster a safe, secure, and healthy workplace to enable our employee community to focus on creating a world where anyone can belong anywhere. The Executive Protection Manager will bear responsibility for the protection of all executive staff, with a particular focus on our CEO, co-Founders, and C-suite executives. This role reports to the Senior Global Safety & Security Manager and works in close coordination with all business units to ensure executive security efforts remain effective and commensurate to the risks.
Responsibilities:
Develop and lead all Airbnb executive protective services programmatic elements
Plan and implement strategies and processes to mitigate risk to our executives
Implement and deliver a comprehensive, best-in-class work and residential protective services program for identified executives
In coordination with the Global Travel and Special Events Security Manager, implement a best-in-class travel security program for identified Airbnb executives; collaborate with local and global law enforcement partners to plan intricate travel logistics and mitigate risks
Leverage strategic external partnerships, open source information, social media, and other data sources to deliver timely, high-value counsel to Airbnb leadership on security risks
Regularly interact with and provide protective services guidance on security risk and mitigation efforts to Airbnb’s top executives
Establish policies, hire and train staff, implement new technologies, and constantly measure metrics to improve the executive protection program
Implement an executive training program for executives to advise and educate on risk identification, threat management, and other protective services program elements
In close coordination with other S&S staff, lead security planning efforts for Board and Shareholder meetings
Build a team capable of responding to short notice taskers from executives with white glove customer service
Create and sustain trusted relationships with executive staff, assistants, schedulers, and other cross-functional partners
Manage the enterprise-wide executive protection protective services budget to within 5% of budget quarterly and 3% annually
Be an Airbnb culture champion.
Requirements:
15+ years experience managing protective services for high net worth and/or high risk business or government executives, ideally 3+ years experience in technology companies
Experience developing and maintaining an Executive Protective Services program for a company of similar size or larger
Possess knowledge in the areas of emergency/disaster management, physical security, residential security, operation/logistical planning, critical incident management, risk management and business resiliency.
Experience with security technologies, including video surveillance, access control, incident management systems and security operations center experience as well as organizing logistics and support of domestic and international travel.
Minimum of 3 years working in a role w/ global responsibility & extensive global travel
Sound judgement & ability to work independently with minimal supervisory oversight
Strong leadership and vendor management skills; demonstrated expertise managing subordinates, vendors, and subcontractors providing executive protection support
Experience with Board and shareholder meeting security protocols
Ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively cross-functionally
Ability to influence in the absence of direct lines of authority over others
Excellent time management skills and ability to competently juggle numerous competing priorities
Excellent written and oral communication skills
An acute sense of discretion and ability to manage highly confidential information
Bachelor’s degree required
Willingness to travel approximately 10-20% of the time
Comfort occasionally working long, irregular hours to include nights, weekends, and holidays, at times on short notice
