PAE is currently seeking a qualified candidate to serve as the Prison Programs and Industries SME. Potential applicants must be willing to live and work in Kabul, Afghanistan for the period of performance. The duties and responsibilities listed herein are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.
DUTIES:
Advise and mentor GDPDC programs and industries components
Partner with the GDPDC Industries Director and program leadership to build administrative capacity and foster an environment
Help establish a succession plan and encourage interest in future generations of programs and industries leadership
Emphasize the need to focus on counter-radicalization and recruitment prevention (“countering violent extremism”), and assist GDPDC in developing programs in these areas
Identify and work with civil society organizations and business organizations to promote industry programming nationwide, in particular for female prisons
Increase and inculcate respect for human rights
Work with GDPDC executives to develop tools to evaluate tools to evaluate and select GDPDC personnel with leadership potential to make up the next generation of mentees
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be able to manage workloads effectively including adapting to changes, planning, organizing and prioritizing work
Must be able to work effectively under stress and pressure
Must be able to work with a culturally diverse workforce
Regional experience/experience working in an austere setting
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), DELTEK, Costpoint, and Cognos)
REQUIRED:
Education: A Bachelor’s degree plus some demonstration of continuing education in the discipline for which the Advisor will mentor (e.g. certificate program). The U.S. Government will entertain substituting years of experience for education.
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years as Associate/Deputy Warden (or equivalent). Preferred two (2) years of corrections experience at the management level, with central office, regional or state-level oversight over multiple correctional institutions and operations. Minimum of twelve (12) years’ experience in corrections at least two of which in the discipline for which the mentor will be advising (e.g. Chief of Classifications of Records, Director of Training Academy).
Security Vetting: Must be able to qualify for an MRPT (Moderate Risk for Public Trust) security vetting designation. Must maintain eligibility at the required security level for the duration of the contract.
Language Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, with all levels of employees and vendors.
Medical: Favorable passage of a drug screen and physical examination
