Safety Officer


The Safety Officer will assist the Quality Assurance and Quality Control Manager in the oversight of the PAE compounds safety measures and performs other duties to include:

Responsibilities:
Assist and ensure a safe and secure environment
Write safety officer reports using MS Office
Ensure fire extinguishers, fire hydrants, fire mule and smoke detectors are checked monthly
Lead quarterly training on fire extinguishers, fire hydrants, fire mule and fire drills
Identify electrical violations on all compounds
Confirms all personnel on the compound display badges in accordance with SOPs
Assists in emergency drills and accountability actions
Assists in emergency situations to locate unaccounted-for personnel
Assists in plans, implements, and coordinates program to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and financial losses
Identifies and appraises conditions which could produce accidents and financial losses and evaluates the potential extent of injuries resulting from accidents
Update daily, weekly and monthly safety and security training
Conduct safety inspections at all sites
Administer job safety programs and correct safety hazards
Assist with writing JHAs
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
Give safety classes and new hire orientation
Notify staff of critical safety situations
Develops accident-prevention and loss-control systems and programs for incorporation into operational policies of the organization
Coordinates safety activities of unit managers to ensure implementation of safety activities throughout the organization
Maintains liaison with outside organizations
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
At least 2 years’ working experience in the safety-related field
Basic understanding of security/safety principles
Manage workload effectively including adapting to changes and prioritizing work
Must be able to work effectively under stress and pressure
Must have a good relationship with co-workers, supervisor, and other departments.Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.Security Vetting:
Must successfully obtain a VSS-A Clearance. Must maintain eligibility at the required security level for the duration of the contractLanguage Skills:
Must be able to communicate effectively in English – read, write and speak - with all levels of employees.
