PROJECT SUMMARY
The Goldozi Project is designed to upgrade the skills of and increase access to market information for15,000 vulnerable female embroiderers in and around Kabul, thereby increasing the commercial and export potential of their products. This tested approach will also create a class of over 500 trained and certified sales agents who are equipped with new skills and access to market insights, connect them to embroiderers and other actors along the value chain, and build and promote a strong brand that advertises the authenticity and ethical production of its product lines.
JOB SUMMARY
The Security Manager is the member of FHI 360/GOLDOZI Operations team responsible for all security related issues of the project. He/she identifies and protect company assets through the development and implementation of security protocols, make sure that staff follow security procedures and guidelines of FHI 360/GOLDOZI through training programs and assessments, ensure the safety of staff within the workplace, perform security process evaluations and inspections and prepares the organization and staff for external inspections.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Monitor the security situation in Kabul and the country to advise GOLDOZI and FHI 360 of situations that may affect programming and staff safety.
Assess program activities relative to their impact on staff safety and security and recommend for appropriate onward communication, specific protocols and practices to reduce staff risk and vulnerability.
Design a system for alerting all staff to an emergency and plans for evacuation of the office and residence if the need occurs.
Supervise, monitor and provide on-the job coaching for Security Officer.
Ensure the office has monthly drills to practice responses to a variety of emergencies: natural disasters, riots, attacks, etc.
Ensure medical and emergency supplies are available at both the office and staff are trained in first aid.
Write weekly reports or brief memos for the Chief of Party outlining the current security situation, anticipating incidents when feasible and presenting any concerns.
Immediately handling violations of the FHI 360 /GOLDOZI security policies and reporting the incidents to the Chief of Party.
Liaising with GIRoA offices when requested by the CoP or FHI 360.
Regularly assess Country Office communications needs, ensure availability of appropriate communications technology; orient all staff to emergency communication procedures and technology; test the emergency communication system regularly, analyze results, and make appropriate revisions; maintain an updated emergency communication contact list.
Serve as a key resource to FHI 360/GOLDOZI in times of emergencies, such as natural or manmade disasters.
Manage Goldozi drivers and their schedules.
Conduct security assessments in new areas of Afghanistan prior to entry by FHI 360 /GOLDOZI program staff.
Meet with police and with other law enforcement agencies as needed for specific incident handling and for general liaison purposes from time to time.
Ensure that all international visitors receive appropriate security orientation within 24 hours of arrival
Regularly attend ANSO (Afghanistan NGO Security Organization) meetings, if needed.

Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree with minimum 5 years of relevant experience on USAID-funded projects or other international organizations.
Experience in security management with previous USAID projects or other international firms.
Previous trainings in security management is preferred
Ability to monitor surveillance systems and respond to emergency situations
Ability to pay close attention to detail
Interest in protecting the people and assets within the organization
Advanced level understanding of communications technologies,
Effective people management skills:
Flexible and work well under pressure
Ability to work both independently and in teams; proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information, meet tight/tough deadline and schedules and create timely, high quality report the DCOP/COP.
Substantive experience in the use of computers and Microsoft Office programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is required.
Fluency in English and local languages i.e. Pashto and Dari required.
