You will be part of the Executive Protection Team in the Security and Safety Division of the Directorate General Corporate Services. Our Division has approximately 60 staff providing facility protection, executive protection, security risk management and other security services.

In your role as a Senior Security Agent, you will be part of a team responsible for the security of persons in the protection programme, working closely with local and national law enforcement authorities, European institutions and agencies and other entities, as necessary.

Your role

As a Senior Security Agent You Will
provide executive protection services in line with established tactics and operational procedures;
plan and organise all transportation and coordinate security arrangements for the protection programme;
coordinate with international and domestic customs, immigration and special services officials to ensure swift and efficient security clearance and escorts at all border crossings;
conduct site security advances, following security advance checklists, and prepare written reports;
coordinate and act as a liaison for external close protection officers accompanying dignitaries at the ECB’s premises;
take up special duties and perform specifically assigned tasks (according to expertise) to support the team’s administrative activities.
Your role requires that you maintain your physical fitness and that you are mentally fit. You will have to participate in regular firearms, tactical and other training activities and perform at the high level necessary to carry out the job of an armed security agent.

Essential

Qualifications, experience and skills
relevant vocational training in security and executive protection (for details on degree equivalences, read more);
in addition to the above, at least three years’ experience in executive protection gained in the field of law enforcement, in the military or working for a public or private international organisation;
at least three years’ experience providing close protection for senior executives or government officials;
a valid driver’s licence, allowing you to drive vehicles with a gross weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes;
proven experience carrying and handling firearms;
a proven track record of being able to maintain the required physical, psychological and tactical condition to intervene in emergency situations;
a valid and recently obtained first-aid certificate (in the absence of such a certificate, the successful candidate is required to obtain one within the probation period); further first responder training is deemed an advantage;
excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, read more.

Desired
an intermediate (B1) command of German;
knowledge of methods and techniques for conducting location threat and risk assessments and for gathering protective intelligence;
computer literacy and familiarity with MS Office Windows applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

Working modalities

Your duties will involve frequent travel within Europe and overseas, sometimes at short notice and outside standard working hours. You will need to work rotating early and late shifts and to perform on-call duties during weekends and nights, being able to reach the ECB within one hour if necessary.
