Primary Function
Reporting to the Deputy Project Manager the Security Group Director (SGD) leads, manages, and directs all security related activities which include installation security, personal, security details, resource security. Antiterrorism, law enforcement, investigations, explosive detection dogs, base defense operations center (BDOC), electronic security systems (ESS), training, pass and registration, information, personnel, industrial security, and armory functions.
Responsibilities
The SGD serves as the overall manager responsible for the identification, development, implementation, and management of the organization's security program.
Directs air base defense functions including control and security of terrain inside and immediately adjacent to the controlled areas and defense of personnel, equipment and resources.
Oversees the development of an effective strategy to mitigate risk and maintain continuity of operations in accordance with the requirements specified in the prime contract.
Provides direction, in coordination with the PM, and DPM in-country staff in identifying, developing, implementing, and maintaining security processes, practices, and policies throughout the organization to (1) respond to incidents, (2) reduce risks, and (3) be aware of and have access to information on any potential risks to the task order and all involved parties (i.e. financial, physical security, reputation etc.).
Provide a safeguard to both the government and their organization's assets, including intellectual property. Recommends appropriate standards and associated risk controls for the prime contract to the PM.
Ensures that contractor provided personnel are properly vetted for their positions / labor categories and that leadership personnel are executing their responsibilities efficiently and effectively. Items of primary concern include assessing performance of protective security details and ensuring proper behavior of all contractor-provided personnel, whether on or off duty.
Develops plans, policies, procedures, and instructions. Assesses installation or deployed location vulnerabilities. Establishes programs, plans, and policies to protect Air Force combat capabilities.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Job Requirements
Must have knowledge of Air Force Security Forces programs and management functions, such as installation security measures; security concepts for conventional weapon systems and resources; air base defense, vulnerability assessment and mitigation; police services including law enforcement, traffic management, confrontation management, investigations, and explosive detection dog utilization; programming and budgeting procedures; information security concepts; principles of deployment, operational capabilities, limitations, and vulnerabilities; basic security equipment capabilities; combat arms training and maintenance; and employment and operator maintenance of assigned weapons.
Fifteen (15) years of experience and ten (10) years of the fifteen years must have been working on or overseeing personal protective, static guard and emergency response team assignments
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in law enforcement, criminal justice, or similar program
Knowledge of US military operations and air base/airfield force protection in contingency environment
Proven verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills with ability to lead, coach, and supervise a team
Ability to exercise discretion and make effective decisions
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer experience working with diverse cultures and various trade skills in an austere, hazardous environment
