Purpose
The security department is seeking to appoint a dedicated and committed individual to fill the position of Security Shift Supervisor - Operations. The successful applicant will be responsible for the daily shift coordination of the guard force deployment and security operations.
Essential Duties
Coordinate deployment and supervision of the Contractor Security staff at all locations within the operational and concession area of the Newmont Merian Project.
Coordinate daily security vehicle patrols and special duties (Escorts, Traffic Control etc.) within the concession area or as otherwise instructed.
Inspect all static guard positions and ensure posts are manned and official registers are updated.
Investigate and take the appropriate action regarding all security related incidents and keep the Security Superintendent informed.
Execute daily shift routine work according to Policies and Procedures within the prescribed Newmont guidelines.
Maintain a Safe, Healthy and friendly working environment in compliance with Newmont Health & Safety procedures and requirements.
Actively partake in the Newmont employee development program for departmental staff and subordinates.
Assess and evaluate progress to maintain discipline and continuous improvement.
Ensure the availability and maintenance of all equipment (Radio’s, Flash Lights, Generators etc.) being utilized during the shift.
Conduct On-the-Job Security Training.
Update and brief all Newmont and Security Contractor Staff with regards to new developments, working procedures by updating notice boards and information registers.

Training & Experience
Secondary School certificate or equivalent.
At least 3 years’ experience in Mining Security Operations.
Military / Police background.
Excellent communication and presentation skills in English as well as the ability to interact with people of diverse cultures.
Tactical Reaction Training will be an advantage.
At least 2 years’ experience as a Security Shift Supervisor.
Computer Literacy in Microsoft Word, Power point, Excel and Outlook.
Medical fitness for the position and environment.
Ability to work 14/7 Shift Schedule, long hours and with little supervision
Working Conditions
Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
Walk on rough, uneven, inclined, wet terrain, and climb stairs.
Wear personal protective equipment including hard hat, steel toe shoes, safety glasses, respirators, self-contained breathing apparatus, earplugs, gloves, or any other equipment to perform duties safely as required by the health and safety plan.
