Location: Sipaliwini, (Suriname)
Purpose
The Security Investigator will be responsible for managing investigative processes by utilizing policies and procedures made available in order to protect assets, property and information of Newmont.
He / She will also be required to apply acquired knowledge and experience to provide the necessary support services to the company for the achievements of both departmental and organisational goals and objectives.
Essential Duties
1. Assist in the formulation and implementation of all security policies/procedures regarding crime and investigations, and ensure full compliance with Suriname Mining and other Regulations.
2. Ensure consistent improvement in security deliverables (Investigations, Security Audits, Background checks, etc.).
3. Initiate and monitor preventive and precautionary measures to deter criminal activities at Newmont Operations.
4. Ensure that appropriate equipment, devices and resources are procured for the effective running of the Investigations Section.
5. Assist with Performance Management, training and development of subordinates in the Security Department.
6. Establish a strong relationships with key external law enforcing bodies (Suriname Police, “Commissie Ordening Goudsector”, Judiciary, Suriname Intelligence Service, Inspectorate of Mines, Military).
7. Build an effective and reliable information acquisition platform.
8. Provide advice to Newmont Security Department based on intelligence gathered from investigations.
9. Compile weekly, monthly and quarterly reports on crimes, thefts and illegal mining activities carried out on Newmont concession.
10. Ensure compliance with Newmont Security Standards.
11. Adhere to company principles, ethics and values with integrity.

Training & Experience
Police or Military back ground.
At least 5 years’ experience in Investigations and Intelligence Operations.
Strong proven investigative and reporting skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Proven leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills with high level of integrity and the ability to interact with people of diverse cultures.
Gold Mining experience will be an advantage.
Computer Literacy in Microsoft Word, Power point, Excel and Outlook.
Medical fitness for the position and environment.
Ability to work 14/7 Shift Schedule, long hours and with little supervision.
Have a valid Suriname driver’s license.
No Criminal Record or any Human Rights violations.
Working Conditions
Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
Walk on rough, uneven, inclined, wet terrain, and climb stairs.
Wear personal protective equipment including hard hat, steel toe shoes, safety glasses, respirators, self-contained breathing apparatus, earplugs, gloves, or any other equipment to perform duties safely as required by the health and safety plan.
