Safety Manager - ERT


Primary Function
To ensure all operations are conducted safely and to standard. Responsible for the implementation and monitoring of all safety and quality related site functions. To actively support and uphold the Company’s stated vision, mission, and values.

Essential Functions
Conducting and documenting quality control audits of all operations for compliance with established procedures
Identifying, documenting, reporting and ensuring completion of all corrective actions to ensure all operations comply with contractual requirements
Assisting in the development of and implementation of an approved health and safety program in compliance with the approved APP, AHA’s, and the Corporate Health and Safety Plan
Analyzing operational risks, hazards, and safety requirements as required to ensure the safest possible approach to tasks at hand
Establishing and ensuring compliance with all site-specific operation safety requirements
Conducting, documenting, and reporting the results of safety inspections to ensure compliance with all applicable safety policies, standards, regulations and codes
Conducting as a minimum a Daily QC and Safety Inspection which will be performed, documented, and submitted
Weekly Safety Inspections of the living and working areas which will be conducted and documented
Providing the Safety Manager a written Daily Safety Brief Synopsis Report, Daily QC and Safety Reports, Weekly Project Status Input, Weekly Safety Roll-up and Weekly Quality Roll-up Reports
Preparing Serious Incident Reports, Near Miss, and accident reports as necessary following accidents/incidents involving project personnel
Ensuring that all protective works and equipment used are operated in compliance with applicable USACE and DoD policy, Federal health and safety statutes, and approved Work Plan provisions
Review subcontractor proposals for response support
Performing or ensuring the conduct of daily safety briefings and operational tailgate safety briefings.


Job Requirements
Must meet the SSHO requirements for EM 385-1-1
Must have OSHA DOL 30-hour, 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER and current 8-Hour Annual HAZWOPER Refresher (if applicable)
Must have Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Train the Trainer Certification
8-hour Hazardous Waste Supervisor Certification required
8-hour On Scene Incident Commander certification preferred
Must be able to pass a detailed background investigation at a frequency as required by contract
Intermediate user level of computer systems, Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook), database applications, and documentation control systems
Must possess valid passport
Must be fluent in speaking and writing the English Language
Must have valid driver's license
Must be able to pass an OSHA physical in accordance with contract requirements
Must be able to meet the physical requirements dictated by project requirements
Must be eligible for US Security Clearance
If former military, must have received an honorable discharge
Ability to identify problems, suggest solutions and react to change with a high degree of attention to detail
Must have experience in applicable safety standards
Preferred certifications to include:
Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
Certified Hazardous Materials Practitioner (CHMP)
