Purpose Of Position:
To provide timely and appropriate safety information, reports and documentation that will support overall efforts of Bahar to manage the safety of Bahar staff, visiting staff, and contractors in the specified project areas in Syria. The position will assist the HQ Office with routine tasks relating to the safety of personnel in the complex environment that Bahar conducts projects in Syria.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor and report safety risks.
Liaise and coordinate with the stakeholders to ensure staff, assets and premises are well protected against threats.
Responsible for delivering routine and emergency Sitreps to Bahar Executive Director or his delegate.
Responsible for liaising with the Programmes and Operations about safety related issues.
Assist in organizing and delivering relevant training to all staff at HQ level or field level.
Participate in meetings with internal and external stakeholders in order provide sufficient information to manage the safety of Bahar staff.
When primary duties -stated above- are complete to the required standard, the position is to be prepared to assist with essential project tasks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience.
At least 1-year experience in security and safety in the Syrian context or similar contexts.
English – written and spoken at a level commensurate to speaking and report writing.
Computer competency – Competent with email, MS Word and Excel. Minor fault-finding knowledge essential. GIS skills an advantage.
Exposure to humanitarian operations highly desirable.
Demonstrate the maturity required to work with minimal supervision, and at times work independently with limited support.
Sufficient exposure to the complex Syrian environment to effectively react and respond to emergency situations.
